Most yards allowed in a game. Twice. Most first downs allowed in a game. Two games without forcing a punt or turnover. Defensive yardage piling up like the national debt. And now, largest lead ever lost.

It takes a special level of stupid to invent new ways to lose games and rack up dubious franchise records at this frantic pace.

Kansas City, Denver, Detroit, and Green Bay. Four infinitely winnable games lost, thrown into the incinerator. Only the Denver game was forgiveable. Mix in the catastrophic debacles in New Orleans and Chicago, and you're left with this.

The franchise is lost. People don't know what to do. Jason Garrett is in an unshakeable trance. Jerry and his boys are fumbling for a cogent thought, relatively speaking of course. Marinelli's spirit is ruined, and Kiffin is probably comatose as I tap these keys. Romo is chatting up gremlins in the empty halls of Valley Ranch.

I don't know what to do either. I don't understand this level of futility. It doesn't compute.

I sat there at halftime with a bummed out, but ginormous Packer contingent, pondering next week. My gosh, a win against the Commanders and a very possible loss to the Bears by Philly, and this is wrapped up! Week 17 becomes an organized scrimmage. Will it be Carolina or San Fran or Detroit or Chicago? Who's comin' to town?

But there was also this nagging thought of a drive that stalled at the 5 and a pass that should have hit Dez. Eight points squandered in an otherwise laugher of a game. Green Bay was 0-for in the first half on third down except for the last meaningless play, but those eight points could haunt.

Then, injuries struck the defense hard, and Dallas forgot to average eight yards per run anymore. The spindle began to unhinge, and a HUGE tide of Packer fans found their voice with an early touchdown to start the second half.

Dallas suddenly was on the road again. Cowboys fan sat stunned as the green wave of Cheeseheads took the stadium over. Lambeau South ensued. Jerryworld had been conquered, again, for the umpteenth time, in spirit and football.

The rudder is now lost. There's no recapturing the culture and positivity that Garrett had managed to instill amongst the Arkansas riff raff. He's a lost cause, his fault or not. Romo needs a new influence, a new boss, a new system, and a new outlook. The whole stinking team does.

I know not much changed yesterday, theoretically. Two wins against two other dysfunctional teams will put the Cowboys in the tournament and Jerry on cloud nine. Only to get wasted in sheet of machine-gun fire in the playoffs.

It will also save Garrett's job, and that just can't happen. I've been a longtime supporter of his, but he lost me yesterday. It's over. He and I just aren't on good terms anymore.

When he abandoned the run yesterday, I abandoned him. Way behind, Lacy had 13 carries in the second half, while way ahead, Murray had only 7. And that's with a ton of empty backfield calls to boot. That is the definition of poor coaching, and I don't care who called the plays. Garrett is responsible.

This thing needs something between a tune-up and an overhaul. Whatever it is, Garrett no longer is the guy to do it. He's damaged goods. Jerry is aging in warp speed, and Romo is desperate for a new voice and a different scene.

I can't root against them, but every part of my being knows these Cowboys need to crash and burn in an ugly mess to get anything done.

Damn this team.

There's so much wrong with and about this franchise one could pick basically anything football and have a legitimate complaint.

How sad is that? Pathetic actually, cause there's no end in sight.

How's it feel to be a Buccaneer................

Great post. And yes we need to crash and burn. Unless somehow we can make the playoffs and Garrett still gets fired.

That's not going to happen. Jerry is going to be spinning every possible reason to keep his boy. It's more likely we lose and still keep Garrett IMO.

Jerry is in his comfort zone right now. Pliable coach. Nitwit son starting to get more involved in everyday operations. "Name" defensive coordinator so he can say "but it was Monte Kiffin!" for deniability.

It's going to take real disaster to rock this boat.

The largest lead ever lost was the 24 against the Loins, I mean Lions, two years ago. Green Bay's 23 pt. comeback is second. Still sad.

I feel like it's worse to be us.

Here's my reasoning:

1. They weren't spoiled by a culture of winning for a long time before becoming an embarrassment.
2. The owner of the Bucs could get bored and sell the franchise to someone who knows how to correct what's wrong.

A loss next week and an empty stadium in a meaningless week 17 game would get his attention, but may not signal a firing of the coach. Jerry thinks he's smarter than the average fan.

Was it not like staring into an abyss with no bottom in sight? We as fans have been "rapaciously" torn asunder, or "run over", and everytime we think the pressure of the wheels mauling our chests is abating, the vehicle reverses and visits yet more carnage on our considerably vanquished psyche. If this were a bad marriage, it would be time to call the lawyers rather than the shrinks. Garrett may yet survive but I believe the "stay" will only be temporary. The "big quit" on "the process" is looming and seems as unalterable as day following night.

This still baffles me in the midst of all of this. Vikings ran the ball 30 times with a 3rd string no name dude, yet we get pretty and decide to throw it EVERY TIME. The Vikings 3RD STRING back had 52 yards on those 30 carries (2 TDs) but those 30 carries were crucial in preserving their lead, even when the Eagles made a run, and opened up play action passing lanes for MATT FREAKING CASSEL to beat them. Without AP.

Running the ball is crucial.

Jason has avoided running the ball like the plague ever since he took over play calling duties many years ago. I've listened to people gripe about that on forums forever now. There's something about passing the ball that he thinks is going to earn him more highlights on ESPN and thus hopefully have a future elsewhere in the NFL.

I think the real problem is that he is in over his head and he knows it. He wants this team to look as hot as they did back in 2007 when everyone, including other teams thought the guy had some kind of special talent as a playcaller. It was really just chemistry Romo between Witten and TO.

Jason turned down the HC job with the Ravens to stay here ( because Jerry promised to make him the next HC).

But damn, can you imagine the Bullet the Ravens dodged? They would be stuck like us while Harbaugh was winning SBs somewhere else.

Anyway, I feel like Garrett doesn't feel like he's safe if he doesn't make the playoffs, so maybe he wanted to blow out GB in a highly televised game to get his stock up just in case he finds himself looking very soon.

Years of mismanagement, bad drafts, over valuing talent. On the job training for our head coach who of course has to be a puppet for Jerry. Its all catching up to the team. This has to be the worst year of watching cowboys games,I've been a fan sense 69 and this is just unbelievable how bad they are.

No, he won't. He can't sell that to his team, his fans, or even Romo anymore. Even Romo will want it, if nothing else but for Garrett, who'll become a tragic lame-duck figure here.

No playoffs, he's out.
