Personally I have always thought he was boring, robotic, vulcan like and dare I say...Souless like a ginger?!?! when it comes to PCs for the most part. He runs on and on with the boring coach cliches day by day talk ad nauseum. Rarely does he open up about anything to the media.

I loved listening to the Tuna. He might have treated the press like crap but at least he did it in an entertaining fashion and even though he sparred a great deal with them and you could tell they irritated him, he would still give out good info or stories.

Even Wade had a charm about him and would open up about plays, styles, reasons behind some things even if they tried to play him and his bumpkin type way of talking.

Garrett...I don't care if someone thinks he is a good coach or a bad coach...he sucks at PCs unless you think he is getting over on them by telling them nothing...which seems pretty idiotic to me. As much as the press annoys me, there is nothing wrong with giving some information even if it is simple stories about something on the team that has happened in the past or something that has no bearing on what is going on at the present.

The boring coach cliche talk is a waste of time IMO.

If the press is acting like turds, you can treat them accordingly while still giving out some info or insight to the team or the game of football.

Oh there's a feud and it started with Garrett giving SF media the Dez info first. it was purely by chance, but Dallas media was pissed.

So at the next presser, they went extra hard on Garrett and Dallas media was congratulating themselves about it and laughing amongst themselves on twitter.

So now, JG gave some of it back to them in yesterday's presser. They noted he answered 35 questions in 12 minutes. And joked how Garrett was giving them "nothing and they were gonna like it."

Twitter is fun when you follow the right people.

Forget the media, if you want to see a hilarious and informative presser, let true Cowboy fans question the coach. I would pay to listen to CowboyZone members question Garrett. It would be both brutal and hilarious at the same time and there would be a lot of information learned. We fans could ask much better questions than the media, and I say that in a good way.

Yeah, he looks skinny and mad. He never says anything in his pressers anyway, so this one was actually more entertaining because of his demeanor.

You have some real douches in that room like Jean Jacque Taylor-Clarence Hill/Mac Engel/Tim McMahon/Ed Werder.. It's tough to take those guys serious with some of the silly questions thrown his way and certain questions trying to start controversy

Maybe after this long he just getting tired of them? Myself I don't care how Jason handles the media my only concern is how he handles this football team.

Definitely, he'd have every reason to be tired of them. But they're really not doing anything different from what they've always done. And Jason's programming is too good for him to just be finally tired of it. Even if he were tired of it, he'd fake it for the press conferences. He's making a point here for some reason.

My guesses are he's either simply running interference for Dez (not all that likely, since it's really not all that necessary and Dez is a parade of knuckle-head stories that's not going to stop), they're irritated about the local handling of the story around Dez (maybe. Stuff goes on behind the scenes all the time and it's possible they're sending a message and we just don't have the context), or, three, he's laying groundwork for a couple weeks from now when Romo comes back because you just know the QB-controversey-in-Dallas stories are going to explode. Maybe he'll try to use the media and make the story about them trying to tear the team apart from the outside to get the players to come together.

I know that last one's really out there. But they've probably already talked about how they're going to handle the transition from Dak to Tony. And I do think the handling of the media here this week feels contrived. There's got to be some reason for him picking a fight of sorts, after avoiding one for so long during his tenure. I can't think of too many possible reasons for it, otherwise.

This is great, and it makes sense. It'll be interesting to see how long it keeps up.

This actually exists in a sense and It is painful and akward. Every Monday morning garrett is on with shaun and RJ on the fan at 8:30.

Mondays was particularly painful and akward. Lot of dead air and garrett at one point said I don't know what you are talking about and it was crickets.

He has no time for the small talk or the spectacle that the media constantly wants to portray and talk about. Yet they continue to do it.

Wade Phillips got bullied because he thought after they won a few games he was loved, he had no idea what he was in for. That is why a nobody like calvin Watkins had the courage to say to him I could have coached this team to the playoffs in regards to the 08 season. it was nuts.

Did you guys see his presser yesterday? He was cutting people off, left and right. Giving even-more-harmless-than-normal answers to every question. They even asked him at one point if he were doing alright, which he answered curtly again. Even his body language at the podium was confrontational.

This on the heels of him giving the Dez story to the SF media first, and reportedly talking to the national media about (was it Dan Bailey?) instead of local media on the day of the game.

Obviously, this is not normal behavior for him, which begs the question, why is he doing it? The knee-jerk reaction is probably that he was miffed by their coverage, and subsequent criticism of his handling off, the Dez Bryant missed MRI. But those stories are a dime-a-dozen during his time in Dallas, and he's never had issues managing those perceptions before. He could just as easily have handled that heat by insisting it was an internal team issue and that they'd handled it as such, which is what he normally does when something like this crops up.

Instead, he appears to have picked a fight here on purpose. Has he just had enough? Is he maybe (finally) cashing in on the us-v.-the-world mentality that the Giants used so effectively under Coughlin (shout out to @theebs, because I know you and I both have wanted to see that for years now)? Using MRI-gate to get the team to rally around Dez to bring everybody together closely? I know, I know, it's conspiratorial, but sometimes it's fun it indulge. And you have to admit, if he weren't baiting the local media on purpose, why keep up the aggression the day after the big win following the mini-controversey? Why not let it die down like it would and go back to business as usual?

If you haven't seen the presser yet, I encourage you to at least watch a few minutes of it to see how combative the tone was. I can't think of another, better, rationalization for his attitude yesterday. Anybody got a better explanation?

At 8:50 is the 'are you ok?' question. Note, he doesn't even crack a smile in his response.

If the local media is turning on Garrett than it is well over due. The guy is a walking contradiction with his accountability and RKG laughable nonsense. I hope they chop him to bits.

Given the stories and commentary by the Dallas media I don't blame any coach for being confrontational.

It's no different in any other major sports city though.

Fact is Garrett is a .500 coach who has one playoff appearance in his entire time here. He shouldn't surprised that the media isn't going to be all warm and fuzzy, chocolates and roses to him and his team.

Jason's pressers are definitely boring, though I prefer that if it limits the muck the local media used to stir up under Wade. Wade was a nice guy, and his affable-uncle routine was funny sometimes, but he bungled the media as badly as he bungled the drafts and that's a big part of why the team eventually fell apart underneath him.

Parcels was the best. A great combination of funny and cantankerous. Just enough good stories to keep things interesting, but he controlled the message and clamped down on stories leaking out of Dallas like nobody I can remember. He was a cool old dude.

I don't think he is surprised and to an extent the media with the Cowboys is different especially nationally where any things that happens with the Cowboys turns into headline stories.

As I said earlier I don't really care how he treats the media all I care about is how he handles the Cowboys. I look at the media as a bunch of bored sports fans who throw out a lot of non sense and rumors. Todays media is nothing but a bunch of national enquirer hacks.

Jason Garrett is one of those semi nerds that takes it and takes it and then one day loses his cool and fist whips the biggest guy in the room.
Sort of like Eli and Peyton Manning.... Just nerds that could kick all of our butts if it came down to it.

Yes, there is something going on and I think your on to something with the leaks with Dez and our local media. JG is pissed and I like it. Hope it stays and infiltrates to the team. It's almost like he lost the game and I like his stance with everyone. Go Red Go!!
