I don't think he is surprised and to an extent the media with the Cowboys is different especially nationally where any things that happens with the Cowboys turns into headline stories.

As I said earlier I don't really care how he treats the media all I care about is how he handles the Cowboys. I look at the media as a bunch of bored sports fans who throw out a lot of non sense and rumors. Todays media is nothing but a bunch of national enquirer hacks.

I disagree. I think fans here overblow the whole national media out to get us thing.

The media in Dallas is no different, and likely, much softer than you might see in places like New York, Boston, Philly, etc.

It's no different in any other major sports city though.

Fact is Garrett is a .500 coach who has one playoff appearance in his entire time here. He shouldn't surprised that the media isn't going to be all warm and fuzzy, chocolates and roses to him and his team.

The volume of local media in Dallas *is* different, though. But I doubt very much that he was surprised by it. They're doing nothing they haven't done for years. It's the team's reaction that's different, which is the point here.

Oh there's a feud and it started with Garrett giving SF media the Dez info first. it was purely by chance, but Dallas media was pissed.

So at the next presser, they went extra hard on Garrett and Dallas media was congratulating themselves about it and laughing amongst themselves on twitter.

So now, JG gave some of it back to them in yesterday's presser. They noted he answered 35 questions in 12 minutes. And joked how Garrett was giving them "nothing and they were gonna like it."

Twitter is fun when you follow the right people.

Yep Dallas media are becoming the story instead of taking what they can get and being thankful to do so. The news will get out with or without them. Especially now days. I hope Garrett keeps his course.

Jason Garrett is one of those semi nerds that takes it and takes it and then one day loses his cool and fist whips the biggest guy in the room.
Sort of like Eli and Peyton Manning.... Just nerds that could kick all of our butts if it came down to it.
Speaking of which, I would love to hear what Eli really thinks for Beckums act lately. I'll bet Peyton is texting Eli, "Hes' 5'11, your 6'2", go kick his *** like that kicking net did"!!

He seemed genuinely annoyed at last weeks questions about Dez especially from jjt and how all players are wanting to win
Sorry Jacques, but star players are treated different. Jimmy did the same

that's not true. The NY and Philly media are not as tough and scrutinizing as they are made out to be, not in this era.

I don't think when he signed on for his dream job of coaching the Cowboys he knew he'd be saddled with Dak Prescott.

He's bitter, pissed off and contemplating his exit strategy.

I live up here.

They absolutely are tougher than what you see in a lot of other places. NY is particularly brutal and with all the media outlets in the NYC area, much larger than what you see in Dallas.

Yes, there is something going on and I think your on to something with the leaks with Dez and our local media. JG is pissed and I like it. Hope it stays and infiltrates to the team. It's almost like he lost the game and I like his stance with everyone. Go Red Go!!

I mentioned in the OP, it used to drive me crazy to watch Coughlin rally those NY teams around the combination of the media perception and the manufactured feuds with players in the Cowboys locker room. And it worked. They'd end up with that us-v-the-world mentality, and start playing harder. Playing harder would get them a few wins, and they'd be off on a hot streak, usually using Dallas to get it sparked. We never seemed to even try to do the same thing, and I don't get why.

And, yes, the media in markets like Dallas and, definitely, NY are very different from the media in most NFL cities.

I am from NY. I remember very well the battle between the post/daily news and Steinbrenner etc.. Its just not like that anymore. Reporters have changed and the media they work for has and in some respects the audience also.

its softer everywhere.

He's pissed because someone, I think JJT, called him out for outright lying to them about Dez.

It's simple, Lady JaGa's time of the month. A Midol and glass of wine will do the trick.

Maybe it's just the opposite and he's grown a pair and grown tired of the snide remarks and innuendo that he's nothing more than a puppet. Caught ESPN this am discussing the "should Romo return to the starter role" debate that is just busting at the seams to be THE story after Brady returns. In that discussion, his name was not mentioned once, it was Booger's decision on who would start and he was talked about as if he is the HC.

I also think there's another element and Lady JaGa is going to try and get out in front of it. We've seen a lot since Booger bought the team but the one thing we've never seen is what is brewing with a QB controversy. And what does he have to deal with? The local media plus "the reliable sources on the team" that will have opinions on which QB should start. And if that isn't enough, he's got a mouthy spotlight seeking owner that shoots from the lip. Think that wouldn't put you on edge? He knows the media and realizes there is no team on the planet they'd rather screw with than the Cowboys. This QB controversy is the answer to the media prayers for easy work and something that will take on a life of itself and damned near write itself.

He's 3-1 and the team is moving in the right direction but ever seen a team weather a QB controversy well? Me neither. Ours is not a team of veterans that can circle the wagons against something like that and there are many members in the media that would like nothing better than to derail our season. Garrett is smart to cop the attitude prior to the controversy so that does not connect to it.

I am not a Lady JaGa fan but I don't dislike him either but to think any man can just take all the crap that's been said about him and the side jokes is incorrect. He's human, has a wife and kids and pride. He is the only HC in the NFL not really considered one by the media and a lot of the team's fans.

What do you mean "volume"?

I mean that Dallas is one of the most-covered teams in the NFL. Both in terms of number of local reporters, number of national stories, and in terms of the amount of media that comes out about them, whether it's in print, video, or from the team's own in-house media department. They might not have the coverage NY gets (I don't really know which city ends up with most coverage, but it's not something I'd base on one posters casual observations anyway), because NY is a natural hub for journalists and media and has an attitude all it's on, but there's no doubt the Cowboys get a lot more coverage than most teams in the NFL.

Its shocking how little coverage there is of the bengals. I always like to read the other teams papers and website and this week there is basically nothing for the bengals. The newspaper and the website seemingly get updated once a day with like 1 article and video. Its odd.
