Garrett is literally coaching for his job without Romo

If JJ truly thinks Kyle is the "best backup in the NFL", you might have a point. Maybe JJ still expects a win.

Garretts job was safe with or without Romo playing. Its safe no matter what the outcome of the game. Jerry already said it publicly. He might be a fool, but he is not a liar.Garrett will be back next year guarenteed .remember that.

Many GM have publicly stated a coaches job is safe only to fire them when the season is over. No GM is going to cause more distrations by issuing an ultimatum during the season.

Oh, I completely agree.

Until 'new era Al Davis' holds himself accountable, nothing changes except the names of the puppets.

So then why do you hope Jason Garrett is held accountable? It seems to me you agree that he is not responsible for this mess.

Oh I think he's got a very big hand in it for sure.

He has done nothing to this point to warrant staying.

But until Jones releases his iron grip that is strangling this team, I think it's fortunes are unlikely to change.

At this point, it is my belief that this team could not even get one of the top candidates as no one with options will work in Dysfunction Junction'.

Without Romo, this game is solely on Garrett and his ability to create a gameplan that is conducive to Kyle Orton and his strengths.

This game will truly show the capabilities of Garrett as a head coach, play caller and game manager.

It could be a blessing in disguise...

I'm fine with this; in fact he should be coaching for his job at this point with or without Romo. Another loss, 8-8 year, no playoffs should translate into a pink slip. Fair is fair...

Its also a big game for Orton.. He is a backup now and Not likely to get a starting gig but a good performance insures he'll always have at least a backup job... plus there are plenty of teams in need of a dependable QB.

What's it going to be then, eh?

I have now learned two important lessons from this thread.

Jason Garrett = scum of the earth
Jerry Jones = not a liar

Right now he has been handed a no win situation, based on what many feel right now Dallas does not have a snowballs chance in hell of winning.

I think its pretty important to remember that he wouldn't be in this "no win" situation if he hadn't mis-managed the team to two losses in games that absolutely positively should have been won.

I agree which is why I think his job is still at risk. I'm not letting Garrett off the hook and I think he has to win.

I thought it was made pretty clear by Jerry already that he wasn't firing Garrett after this season no matter how this final game turns out. I guess some people just want the guy gone so bad that they're just hoping beyond hope that Jerry suddenly changes his mind and cans him.
