Andy Taking Heat And Under Stress PDF Print E-mail

Andy Reid just finished his Monday news conference and took responsibility for the problems in the return game. Lito will miss the game against the Commanders because of a strained knee. They don't know who's going to be the punt returner this weekend.

I'm concerned about Andy because a human being can only take but so much stress. Remember Reid doesn't say anything about it, but he's still dealing with ongoing legal issues concerning his sons. At this time of year, Andy is spending all day and night at the Nova Care Complex. When he does go home he's greeted with more information about his boys' legal problems. Not to mention he probably pays visits to the jail to see one son and sees the other at home with a ankle bracelet around his ankle.

He's also not in the best shape to be dealing with all this because he has to be closing in on 400 pounds. If the Birds don't get things turned around quickly the stress is only going to increase. I know this is not focused on football but there's no way in the world you can deal with all of that stress.

Being an NFL head coach is one job I'll never envy or desire. 100 hour weeks (in season or offseason), annual or biannual moves to higher profile jobs working up the ranks, with neverending stress, no job security, and constant critcism from the media and fans.

That's pretty sad. He will probably retire sooner or later. I know I would.

With his weight issues and the increased stress with his family, he is a prime candidate for stroke or a heart attack.
