According to a source, Selvie was fined $15,750 and Scandrick was fined $21,000 for illegal hits.

Selvie was fined for a second-quarter roughing the passer penalty when he hit Bears quarterback Josh McCown below the knee. The 15-yard penalty was added to a 26-yard completion to Alshon Jeffery.

Scandrick was fined for a fourth-quarter unnecessary roughness penalty when he hit wide receiver Brandon Marshall on a 22-yard completion. The hit was deemed to be on a defenseless player.

Both players are expected to appeal the fines.

I can see the Selvie penalty, but that was ticky tack against Scandrick. And now he's $21,000 poorer? Wow.

Selvie's hit could have ended the qb's career. If you believe in karma, fear for Tony this week.

As I understand it, when you appeal, there is a nearly automatic reduction of the fine, regardless of outcome. If that's truely the case, the big fines are for PR and shock value. And for appearances in legal cases.
