Please, Jerry, don't botch this one by dragging it out for some stupid ratings ploy. Get Pickens signed to a new deal as soon as you can. He's the most talented WR we've had since probably Irvin, or at least since TO. He'll be a top FA this off season, and MANY teams need a stud WR. Pay him now.

Anyone ready to anoint him as WR#1 over lamb? its obvious he is better, bigger and can catch the ball.....oh also he is faster and break tackles......lamb gives up too easy....
He catches nearly everything thrown his way. He's already made enough for a highlight reel in 10 games with Dallas.

He even makes heads up plays like turning into a DB to break up what would have been a fairly easy interception.

Pump the breaks it’s the Raiders and CeeDee still gets most of the attention. That being said size, hands, and speed very few players have that talent at age 24. David is going to ask for the moon and the Raiders might give it to him.

It takes two to tango!

so you think not signing players is for ratings? didnt we immediately lock up some players after we traded Michael? You think Pickens os just going to lay down and sign for 14 million a season? what do you think it will take to get it done. Better START with Tee Higgins money as the BASEMENT.

Yes he’s better. It’s a good thing we have a young OL. We can allocate the resources towards Pickens. If we mathematically get eliminated they should start Nate Thomas because we can use Steele’s 14 million cap savings.

Yes, I do, in fact, think Jerry drags out the negotiations for nothing more than ratings. It cost us Parsons this year.

No, I don't think Pickens is going to "lay down for 14 million". I'm not sure where you inferred such a hyperbolic notion from my post. I expect Pickens to be paid either the most, or near the most of any WR next year.

I just want Jerry to get this done.

so you think he should get Jefferson, Chase and Lamb money? I m not a a gm, I just want it done. We need this guy on the team. We arent letting him walk, so its 4 year deal or tag, one or the other.

Amen. I'm hoping the Cowboys end this season on a positive note so that maybe Pickens will consider Dallas a great option as his longtime home. I doubt if he will want to sign early (as in now). He might want to test the market, but hopefully the Cowboys will trend upwards, making Dallas a more attractive consideration. Capwise, they can find a way.

Yup, he's playing for a contract this year. If some GM could figure out how to build a roster full of contract year guys, they'd win the Super Bowl every year. LOL

No discount to be had signing Pickens right now. He's on track for a career year and his agent knows it. They will wait until the end of the season and start the bidding.

It takes 2 to tango. Pickens has the same agent Micah Parsons has, so that agent is likely telling Pickens not to agree to anything right now, but instead, to drag things out until the end of the season in order to increase Pickens' value.

Hat tip to Boysmamcita for linking this in the post game thread.

Dez agrees about Pickens.

I wonder who he’s talking about that is “playing past their due date “. Eberflus? Any current players? I was pretty solid if not wanting to sign Pickens until tonight. He won me over tonight.

They compliment each other.

They don’t really do the same stuff.

Lamb does the more quick / agile / slot stuff.

Pickens is a possession receiver, can get the 50/50 ball, and is better after the catch than I think anyone imagined.

So he will be looking for what a 4 year contract. Say $70+ million guaranteed and circa $32-35 million a year...can that be worked around given Kenny Clark is due what $20 million next year, Javante Williams will be available to resign plus big contracts already on the books including Lamb and the $231 million guaranteed to Dak over 4 years.

Some tough decisions lay ahead.

Diggs and Steele likely gone.

That gives them almost 28M in cap.
