After watching Keith Davis cover kicks and make outstanding tackles while running down field at a very high rate of speed, I caught myself wondering if we could use him more. Not in coverage, we know that won't work. But what about as a positional pass rusher on passing downs, similar to what Henry did in the game against the Packers.
Dallas has had their share of missed tackles this season, especially on QB sacks. Keith Davis doesn't seem to know what a missed tackle is. If you can consistently tackle kick returners after running full speed down field towards them, than you should be just as effective blitzing a slower QB from different points on the field. He could be used like we all though Roy Williams should be used. The difference is, Davis is a bit faster, more agile, and just as good of a tackler. Coming off the slot, he should have the speed to get to the QB faster (than Roy) and we won't have to worry about him whiffing like we have seen others do. He may even bring a spark to a defense that simply has not fire to speak of and could help get the crowd going at the same time.
Any thoughts?
