Connecting the dots between us looking at him last week, Brewster officially being ruled out for the season and Colombo getting hurt.

Brewster wasnt on the roster and Colombo apparently isnt being ruled out for the season. At least not right now anyway.

I doubt we see anyone signed until they see what Free does vs Washington and Oakland.

Wade Phillips said a roster move with Marc Colombo isn't forthcoming.

They will just have him as one of the eight inactives on game day until something concrete is known.

Even if Jumbo can recover this season, which I doubt, he wouldn't be able to get back in game shape and would we even want to disrupt the line again if Doug Free holds his own?

Good point on Brewster. He had to be activated from PUP to be put on the roster ... just saw that and jumped to conclusions.

Please disregard my useless point.

Why in the world would you not just put him on IR, let him heal properly and sign someone else? Maybe he could come back for a late playoff push but I doubt it.

Well, we did keep an extra lineman going into the season, since I thought it would be either/or with Preston and Proctor.

Not bringing in an extra one doesn't really affect game day anyway, since we only have one active tackle and one active interior lineman as backups.

The only concern would be having just three healthy tackles on the roster, but we do have the ability to move Davis if necessary, so that sort of makes four.

Because 8 guys gotta be inactive anyway. Unless you know for sure he is done for the yr and cant play, there's no reason to make a move.

Free will start, Proctor will remain active as the backup C/G and they will probably activate either Holland or McQuistan

I would think it would be McQuistan because he and Proctor give us a simple plug-and-play option.

If Holland's active and one of the tackles gets hurt, then we would have to do a double move — Davis to tackle, Holland to guard (although I'm sure we'd switch Free to LT and put McQuistan at RT if Adams were hurt).

OK let's do this then since Holland can't play tackle. Sign Paul McQ or Runyan and cut Pat cause he ain't worth spit.

I found this in another thread by Krazy Katter:

"Ever spent time around twins? They are like one person in two bodies sometimes. They always seem to do better when they are together. That's why their moms argue to put them in the same classes but every one else is trying to break them up to make them "independant." I don't think the Cowboys even know what they got their hands on with Pat McQ, and it isn't like he is going to raise his hand and say,"I play a hell of a lot better when I'm playing with my brother." But, DUH! I read an early artical on the McQ twins. They sharred the same wallet up until they got drafted, for Pete's sake! If, as Leonard Davis said, "I'm not going to lie to you, . . .half the battle is just communicating, knowing what guys are going to be doing, certain plays versus certain looks." is really what happens on the field, then somebody should sure as hell put Paul on the team and see what happens to Pat (and Paul too for that matter). They might be a set of Wonder Twins waiting to 'ACTIVATE!' "

What could it hurt? Paul was the 'better' of the two coming into the draft (which is silly because it really only means he played more football before Pat joined his college team). Raiders don't know their butt from a rabbit hole. Maybe he just needs a decent team and a coaching staff that lasts longer than half a season. And about Pat--- I'm wondering why 'hendog' is such a hater. Takes time to develop an OL player. And when they are backing a great starting lineup-- is it any wonder you don't see them getting much playing time? Besides, ever compare their salaries? If YOU were paying them either way, and all other things were equal, who would YOU play? The guys who makes 20x or the x?

I'm all for putting the McQ twins together and seeing what they can do. Can't think of another NFL twin set that played together. Are there any?

I could see Jerry being the first in the NFL to have twins starting on the same team . He loves that kind of exposure, especially if they both were to make a name for themsleves which is unlikely....
I would lay odds that if the Dolphins were to need an OL they would be the first to call Paul after us, Parcells always wanted Paul coming out of college
but the Raiders drafted ahead of us so he chose brother Pat figuring the pedigree is there already but that has not panned out to date

This Pat's last year on the Cowboys.

Someone will give him a shot after we cut him for a year or two.

Then it will be on to the real world to find another career.
