First of all, I will say the players need to be respectful of the game of football. the thing that bothers me is the NFL and it's rules are taking the fun out of the game. Examples:

1. TD celebration foul: No team celebrations and nothing on the ground. Well, They have been playing since day one as a team sport and now they have to celebrate by themselves? If you ask any player if a TD Celebration bothers them or takes away from the game the answer would be NO!!!

2. QB Personal Foul: You have to be kidding me. If a QB gets rid of the ball while a player is in mid air, youn are asking him to change direction or get the foul. Now our QBs need some protection but please!

3. Pass Interference: 15 yd foul Max! Spot of the foul gives a team a free shot to get something going or back in the game. TOO MUCH.

4. Other:Is there another Foul that needs to be tweeked a little or changed IYO?

Do the same things bother you or just leave them alone?

This one (#2 as far as I am concerned) has really gotten out of hand to the point it's almost ridiculous.

We saw two football games decided on this infraction this last week.

I can understand the reason for the rule to protect QBs but again, just like the horsecollar rule, there is too much discrepancy in how it is called.

The rules committee either must change the rule or define what is or isn't a PF on the QB. If they keep the rule give the refs an option of either a 5yd or 15 yd penalty.

As it is now it's a bad rule.

I agree with you about pretty much all you said. Celebrations in the endzone should be allowed. The game was fun way back when that was allowed, but at minimum the smaller creative celebrations should be allowed. To say "go sit down" right after a TD is minimizing the fun of playing the game.

Like Vinny said, the QB wears pads too.... You have to be realistic what you call. A 250+ lb man running full steam at the QB and has only a step before ball is released should be forgiven the hit. When you have defenders slow down before the hit so that to make sure QB still has ball is asking way too much.

I really like the idea of changing pass interference to be 15 yards max because who know if receiver would of caught it anyways. I understand the worry here is that if a defender would purposely hit a wr after that 15 yard mark knowing they would only gain 15 yards instead of the greater amount, but maybe they can institute something like an intentional PI and a unintentional PI - intentional getting at spot of fould, while unintentional getting 15 yards.

I say there should be two flavors.

1. Spot foul if the PI is blatant and obvious and would have really prevented the receiver from catching the ball

2. 15 yards if the PI is one of those ticky tack plays where it's not apparent if the receiver would have caught the pass, but it's clear that he was affected by the defender.

Kinda like the 15/5 yard face mask penalties.

I have always wanted Pass Interference to be a max 15 yard pentalty.

The current amount is far too much.

A lot of people will not agree however I think they should not award massive yardage on the assumption that the receiver would have caught the pass without the interference. The offense still gets a first down and 15 free yards.

The pass interference call will never change...it's all about scoring points and TV audiences. While some "true" fans may claim to appreciate a defensive struggle, the league and the TV industry know that high scoring shootouts put the most fans in the seats. This penalty is all about scoring more points and giving offenses the incentive to go deep more often.

Actually, I'll bet if you threw the deep ball three plays in a row, you'd stand a pretty good shot of completing it or drawing a penalty.

I think all we can really ask for is consistency. They have the rules in place and every year they seem to target a select few and screw the pooch big time calling them. The thing I liked most about the Dallas Colt game, other than the win of course, is that they just pretty much let them play football.
The game was fast paced and the refs didn't dictate the outcome.

Absolutely. Plays are designed/called to draw the flag.

That is main reason I hate running a draw play when it's 3rd and long. Chunk it deep. That is better than a 4 yard run when you needed 15. It might actually be complete or it might draw a flag even if it is for holding at least that gets you a first down.

The PI penalties need to stay the same... say the team throws a 60 yard pass and the defender is totally out of position and all he can do it interfere. It would be worth it to just knock the reciever out if its just going to be 15 yards and not 60.

Maybe if it was like what some people suggested being intentional or not.

Not much in favor of adding to the refs burdens of having to make more judgment calls but the QB thing needs some tweaking. I don't have the answer but seems the refs need a five and 15 yd penalty to assess as well as the decision to call a no foul just as in basketball.
