I'm starting to get really excited about this defense. Going into camp, the defense on paper looked to be good with the potential to be great. It's only been three days, but I'm seeing so many good things.

- According to Mick's column today, Henry has really impressed Bill. This is the best set of corners that we have had since '95 in Henry, Newman and Glenn.
- Ellis is performing well in the 3-4
- Beriault is all over the field, intercepting passes and making big tackles. If he can make a push for that FS spot, we may have just gotten boxcars on our roll of the dice. It's early, but if that problem was solved, and solved with a rookie, it's a great leap ahead
- Burnett is also looking good in the first few days.

Here are the quotes from Mick's column. Can't help but be excited !!

And in Bill's eyes, "Anthony Henry is better than anyone we've had here since I've been here," and went on to say Henry and veteran Aaron Glenn, "those are ball-hawk guys." . . . And with those two guys now onboard, the Cowboys are going ahead with their plan of using Terence Newman in the slot on the nickel defense. That's where he practiced Sunday in the nickel, with Glenn taking over at left corner . . . .

All that pre-camp player apprehension over moving to the 3-4 seems to be slowly dissipating. Greg Ellis is performing well at right defensive end, causing defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer to say, "He actually looks really well," and discounted Ellis' concerns about the position change by saying, "Greg is just a worrier." . . . And La'Roi Glover, who has checked in at 288 pounds for his move over to nose tackle, said he entered the league competing for a job and that nothing has changed as far as he is concerned. Even though Jason Ferguson is lining up ahead of him at nose tackle in the 3-4, Glover said he is taking the attitude of "competing," figuring the best man will be the starter . . . .

Not a bad day for Jason Beriault, or "No. 40," as Zimmer refers to him. He intercepted a pass in the morning practice, and had a couple of bone-jarring tackles, too, one behind the line of scrimmage. For that, he got called out to the middle of the field by Zimmer between plays for a quite obvious high-five . . . .
