purely a formality. he had to get taken off the preseason pup list, or he would of been out for 6 games.

now that we are hitting roster cut downs, healthy or not, he wasn't staying on that pup list

It will be interesting to see how he plays this year.

Last year in the second half of the season he was a shell of his former self on the field. It was later disclosed he had a back injury that would not settle down and had multiple cortisone shots to try and settle it down. He went to offseason physio for multiple months without a good response. He then underwent micro-discectomy about a month ago. That surgery tends to be good at relieving leg symptoms but also tends to further weaken the existing disc.

I wonder how much burst, agility and anchor he loses from the injury. He plays a tough position to have that kind of a problem. I wish him well in his personal health but I would not shed a tear if he is only a mediocre player going forward. It would have been better if his injury occurred after a huge contract extension with massive amounts of guaranteed money had been signed but maybe that is just around the corner if he flashes in the early part of the year.

The Giants are still uncertain whether or not he will play week 1 so him coming off the PUP list isn't major news. He was cleared to practice so watching to see if he actually practices is much more interesting.

Bet the mortgage, he's playing week one. How effective he will be is another question. Hopefully he won't be.
But he will be on the field when the season kicks off.

We are talking about one really good year sandwiched by two very mediocre years.

East coast bias is why he is even a household name. he should have to do it more than a single season to get the level of respect he is currently getting.

If his back doesn't hold up, he amounts to nothing but a flash in the pan, which is my prediction.

JJP already has back problems. Tuck is old. Umenyiora is gone. Herzlich is a disappoinment, and the linebackers are below average. Stevie Brown blew his ACL last week, and he led the team in interceptions. And none of the corners can cover Dez or Miles.

Romo is going to light this team up, and Dallas might even rush for 120+.
