This could be a major problem for the Giants. The replacements they have are pretty green. Looks like they may be doing a lot of shifting of personel along the line.

The Giants went into the offseason with the knowledge that Snee might retire. This isn't surprising news at all.

Their contingency starter at RG is John Jerry, who they signed in FA. Jerry will also compete with Mosley for the starting RG spot.

Snee was finished last year. Both Jerry and Mosley are way better than Snee at this point.

Eli is gonna take another beating this year... :)

Doubtful.

They signed the best guard in FA (Geoff Schwartz)

They drafted the best center in the draft (Weston Richburg)

They signed their contingency starter at RG in John Jerry knowing Chris Snee could retire

Will Beatty - Geoff Schwartz - Weston Richburg - John Jerry - Justin Pugh is their projected starting OL

Difference in OL interior pass-protection 2013 vs. 2014

LG - Geoff Schwartz +6.7 pass-block grade on 340 pass-blocks in 2013

C - JD Walton +2.7 pass-block grade on 159 pass-blocks in 2012

RG - John Jerry +7.0 pass-block grade on 681 pass-blocks in 2013

Giants OL in 2013:

LG - Kevin Boothe -2.6 pass-block grade on 639 pass-blocks in 2013 / James Brewer -5.5 pass-block grade on 259 pass-blocks in 2013

C - Jim Cordle -4.7 pass-block grade on 288 pass-blocks in 2013 / David Baas -1.1 pass-block grade on 101 pass-blocks in 2013

RG - David Diehl -19.8 pass-block grade on 413 pass-blocks in 2013 / Chris Snee -6.9 pass-block grade on 138 pass-blocks in 2013

ALL negative grades across the board along the interior, with David Diehl's -19.8 leading the way in ineptitude.

-2.6 - 5.5 - 4.7 - 1.1 - 19.8 - 6.9 = -40.6 cumulative pass-block grade among those 6 linemen who played along the interior (LG/C/RG)

In other words, the interior of the Giants OL hemorrhaged pressure in Eli's face in 2013.

The difference in interior protection of the Giants OL from 2013 to 2014 is NIGHT AND DAY

But they do have a brand new first round WR. :)

And they drafted Weston Richburg in the 2nd round (#1 rated Center) who took snaps at RG during OTA's (also played guard in college)

Snee retiring is a shock to nobody in the Giants organization. They've known it was a possibility all along and made contingency plans.

They signed RG John Jerry in FA who started all 32 games the past 2 seasons on the Dolphins.

LT - Will Beatty
LG - Geoff Schwartz
C - JD Walton vs. Weston Richburg battle in camp
RG - John Jerry vs. Brandon Mosley battle in camp
RT - Justin Pugh

Out with the old, in with the new. The Giants OL is fresh, young, and healthy.

OL looks really good.

Yeah, we're pretty happy with the way it looks, too.

Geoff Schwartz is an elite guard, Top 10 guard in the NFL. Dominant run-blocker AND pass-blocker

Weston Richburg was the #1 rated Center in the draft.

John Jerry was ranked the 5th best pass-blocker among RGs last season. Only Louis Vasquez, Larry Warford, Willie Colon, Jahri Evans pass-protected better than him at his position last season.

Justin Pugh is up to 315 pounds after playing at 302 last season. He added 10 pounds of muscle and will have a great season.

LT - Will Beatty (primed for a bounce back year)
LG - Geoff Schwartz (one of the best guards in the league)
C - Weston Richburg (nice young center prospect)
RG - John Jerry (Top 5 pass-blocking RG last year)
RT - Justin Pugh (+13.5 PFF grade the 2nd half of last season, added 10 pounds of muscle in the offseason)

You should be all set, then. I'm convinced.

lol "Geoff Schwartz, one of the best guards in the league." He's only been on 4 different teams so far.

the Giants homer is funny- as most homers are. They just do not realize people are laughing AT THEM and not with them.
