Glad they did not take him.

I have no clue who dallas would have taken if Martin was gone but maybe Jerry would have won his manziel argument.

I think they'd have taken Shazier wouldn't they? Or did he go right before us? I keep thinking he went right after we took Martin. But I can't remember now.

We were going to take Shazier...the steelers drafted him instead.

I believe Beckham was on our radar but I doubt they would have drafted him.

After the Rams took Donald, they were interested in packaging a few picks ( their 2nd rd pick and something else) to move back in to the 1st and take Martin. Jeff Fisher said so.

I see. So the idea wasn't to trade out of the 13th pick but to try to scoop both Donald and Martin. Wonder why they weren't able to make it happen with all those picks. (As an aside, they've generally not done a great job converting their haul from the RG3 trade into productive players, which may just go to show that the real genius in the Hershell Walker trade wasn't in acquiring all those extra picks but in how Johnson used them.)

I would assume it'd be a trade down like last year because I think he was the last one left of that tier that they liked....though I would have taken CJ Mosley in that scenario.

But yeah, it would have given Jerry more leverage if there was no Martin.

I just think Garrett (and probably Linehan too) was strongly against taking Manziel in the 1st round and his thoughts, at least at that position, would always win out. That's why I was saying all along that we would not take him. But never say when never when jerry is involved.

He's an athletic technically sound bully. Imagine him as he improves his overall body strength in the offseason...

If we keep the dial turned, he'll make the Pro Bowl by committee. Same goes for Frederick and Smith.

This is a thread on a Giants message board called:
Re-watching tape: Cullen Jenkins vs Zack Martin.

Below is the first post:

The rest of the posts are interesting and tells you a lot about what they think of Martin.

A couple more:

EDIT: Sorry forgot the link: http://corner.bigblueinteractive.com/index.php?mode=2&thread=503756

I either read it or heard it on the radio, but there is a guy out there right now believing Martin may just be the Cowboys best offensive lineman...even over Smith. Not sure I agree, but I certainly wouldn't want to be the guy trying to prove him wrong.

Yep. Really glad that didn't work out. I like Shazier but not anything close to Martin.

Unless they're very special, I think 43 teams can get their OLB's in the late first/early second on down. They usually are just run and chase guys that can cover.

If NY had taken Martin though and Pitt still took Shazier... I wonder which way Dallas would have gone?

Given the Giants situation, I probably would have taken Beckham too. Jury's still out, but looks like he could be a star.

Funny how he wanted no part of the ball when it was fumbled, .. I think it was #84 first fumble.
