Ouch. That stinks. He's a key player.

I hate that for him if its serious. Tough and very good player; big loss for the Giants.

Yikes. If its serious that's a big loss for them.

They gotta seriously look at expanding NFL rosters. It hurts way too much to lose a quality starter from your 53, and every year teams are cutting players they'd like to keep and develop when it comes to cutdowns. 3 more guys on an active roster and 2 more on the practice squad, as a random example. Let's you keep that extra LB or S or WR you're going to need after 17 weeks of football that could be the difference between a team making the playoffs or not.

They also ought to let you you bring more players to the games, so teams can work younger players in in waves or packages to get some playing time and really develop. This game is too awesome and too hard to have 'who got hurt less' determining who wins divisions.

The con is it will cost more money but that can be dealt with. I like the idea of 3 designated players who get a lower salary and get to practice with the team. The team can add them to the 53 and then carry 45 + 2 non-QB players + 1 emergency QB to the games. You can move players in and out of that pool of three but limit those transactions to say ten a season not counting IR. Just throwing an idea out there.

They have discussed expanding the roster. My guess is the players union has say so in that. Getting those two to agree might be problematic once you start talking benefits and pensions.

Instead of limits on pad practices and those other things the Union got in the CBA they would have been much better off holding out for larger rosters.

Amen.

I agree.

As the game gets faster, and move violent, and with the less practices and ability for teams to get their teams into actual football conditioning it's only the right thing to do that they get some extra hands in there to help with rotations and to help with some of the injury issues.

Well that's not too terrible for the Giants then. He'll miss about a month or so of the season.
