Not sure the main plan here but we do need to upgrade. Second tier free agents tend to be in their late 20s or 30+. I wouldn't have minded us going after a guy like Jenorius Jenkins but apparently he is signing with the Giants who have now resigned JPP and are getting the huge run stuffer from the Jets. Giants just got a lot better while we might be looking to lock up Nick Hayden on a 1 year deal. If Romo does have 4-5 years left he only has 2-3 good ones and we need to take advantage of them. Now is the time to spend.

So the Giants and Jags win the off-season by spending tubs full of money. They will still suck when the real season get started.
Geez, some of you guys should learn. Signing FA for big money has never guaranteed success. Please look at all the Deadskins
disasters before spouting off.

Who are you looking for them to sign?

Who is the last big name FA the Cowboys signed and did well?

The jags are not going to suck. Up and coming team. You can throw in the Raiders as well. Both teams are assembling some serious talent and already have their version of the triplets in place.

All fans care about is winning the offseason.

Well we did that last year through the draft and free agency.

And it is commonly accepted that free agency isn't the pathway to a championship. For years now the Cowboys have used free agency to plug holes so that they can have a true draft board. You can argue the strategy. But arguing confusion as to the plan just shows you haven't been paying attention.

Not to mention they may be going hard for Vernon now.

Giants and Eagles both making moves you would expect from a sub .500 football team. Obviously every signing doesn't pan out, but the logical thinking is that when you dont perform you have to try to bring in impact players, make impact deals in order to change that. The Jones boys really think they are the Patriots and can just sit back and relax every offseason.

I just said something similar to this in the Rant Zone. You can still be active early in free agency (or in this case, before free agency even starts) without overpaying.

Continually hoping to catch lightning in a bottle with a 2nd-tier player doesn't work very often. Sometimes, you have to actually go out and get a guy you KNOW can play and contribute.

From Reports we may sign Nick Hayden we font have any room to talk bad about any other teams signings

No way..jaye Howard should be the guy we go after .. Not a guy who gets bulldozed in the ground by 1 guy on a regular basis

And they wonder why the're playing .500 ball over the last 20 seasons.

I think you do. The Cowboys have had the same plan for several years in a rtow now. When they come out and say they aren't signing any big time deals to big time FA's you shouldn't be surprised when that is exactly what happens.

I would have no problem not signing Big name FA........... If we didn't swing and miss in the 2nd 3rd and 4th rounds in drafts

Don't forget the Dolphins who have been the off season champs the last few years.

I knew they'd be making moves. They are the biggest threat to the cowboys this season.

They are also going after vernon
