i have a bad feeling they will be a good power running combo. alot of people are saying they will have no/poor running game this year. i'm not buying into that at all. jacobs is a beast and ruben has faired well for playing in cleveland. what do you guys and gals think?

Those guys will not be able to duplicate Tiki Barber's production. They are moving Deihl to LT and that opens them up at guard. I think Barber made their blockers better. Their o-line isn't powerful. They hold a lot. Barber would wait for the openings and cut through them.

The Giants will not be able to hold us like they did in Dallas last year or tie our d-line up and wait for Barber to pick his opening. The Phillips 34 should be able to attack the linemen and clog the running lanes and stop the ball carrier or stop him behind the line.

These guys don't have the speed to scare me. Jacobs on short yardage is tough, but we have stopped him twice on big plays during the last two years. One by Williams and one by Ware.

Droughns VS Barber = NOT EVEN CLOSE

Jacobs VS Barber= NOT EVEN CLOSE

Jacobs and Droughns VS BARBER= NOT EVEN CLOSE

It may not be awful, but Tiki was a special back the last several years. Jacobs is good, and will get his here and there, but I wouldn't say I am terrified.

Tiki was a good back, close to an elite level....

He was also a whiny poon who wanted to be in the spotlight to further his post NFL opportunities..

BOth of them together are not going to equal what Tiki produced- and the D's certainly will not worry about them anywhere NEAR as much. Eli better get that mattress ready- he is going to need it to soften all the falls he is going to take!

I think the giants will have a strong inside ground game, however the defense will not fear the corners and stack the middle of the field.

Also the Giants passing game will be greatly diminshed without Tiki. He was really smoothe as an outlet.

Defenses will compact the field and force more 3rd and longs as a result.

Tiki was one of the top 5 backs in the league the last several years. He was both a running and receiving threat and gave us heck of a lot of problems. He even stopped fumbling so much the last 2 years.

I'm so glad he's retired!

I think Jacobs can be a good NFL back. But replacing a back like Tiki is a lot like us trying to replace a guy like Emmitt. I'm not saying that Tiki is as good as Emmitt....just saying that he'll be tough to replace.

Jacobs could wind up being a stud.....he could wind up another Eddie George (the good one). But from what I've seen, he's more likely to be just a solid NFL back.

Oh he killed us.

He was personally responsible for our destroyed remote control. I remember him returning a punt (it was either for a TD or it set up a chip shot FG) against us in 1999 (Monday Night Game). Anyway, I spiked the remote... it shattered.

As I began picking up the pieces, we had a remarkable return for a TD in the style of Cal/Stanford....but Deion was called for an "illegal forward lateral", and it got called back.

That was the first time I remember Tiki hurting us.

their line isnt built really for the power run game, jacobs will have to break the first tackle in the backfield alot

jacobs is bigger/stronger/faster than hammy

Maybe I should have said the hype. Not to mention how inflated were his stat when he came in to spell Tiki, a la T-Ham.

Defending them shouldnt be a huge problem. Tiki was the guy who always torched us. I'm not worried about any running game from the East rivals.

The thing that will hurt the Giants the most is that they wont be able to pass to Tiki out of the backfield. Say what you want, but he could take a 2 yard dumpoff pass and go to the house with it. Jacobs and Droughns can't do that. I don't think the run game will be hurt all that much.

More 3 and outs....shorter fields for the opposing offense....more time on the field for the defense...doom for the Giants!
