I admit the Giants are a good team and will be tough this year but I don't get all the media love for this team when it seems they have just amount of questions as we do heading into this season.

Offense - they loose a 1,000 yard receiver in Plax. They loose a 1,000 yard rusher in Ward, they loose a veteran receiver and one of Eli's favorite targets in Toomer. Brandon Jacobs hasn't played 16 games since he's been in the league. They went 1-4 down the stretch and if Carolina hadn't blown the games they go 0-5. I think Nicks (WR) and Brown (RB) are good picks, but just like our picks they are unproven.

1) who is their #1 WR
2) will their ground game be the same without Ward
3) was 2007 more about getting hot at the right time or are they really a team that fades down the stretch, just like us. Take away those 4 playoff games in 2007 and Eli hasn't done anything the last two months of the season, just like Romo.

If I had to pick a division winner right now, I'd go with Philly. I think they improved their offense and they have a history of playing well in Nov/Dec.

It will be an intersting year.

Well we get New York in week 2 at the new place.

None of these teams are honestly that much better than the other. Who ever plays good ball down the stretch will be the team that goes far.

It scares me because Dallas has a schedule where they could start the season 6-1 or possibly 7-0 but the back half of our schedule is brutal.

I expect to see the Giants struggle on offense. Yes, they drafted some WR's to replace Plax and Toomer, but 9 times out of 10, WR's take 2-3 years to develop. Losing Ward will cost them a bit on the ground as well.

sadly, the NYG are everything we're not

* superbly coached & managed
* run by an excellent GM
* class organization/front office
* tough on the field
* clutch (manning drives for last second half TD vs DAL, superbowl winning TD, nevermind the miracle pass/grab setting it up... OTOH crayton drops ball, Romo is a turnover machine in big games)
* not "hollywood"
* have a legit home field advantage (wind difficult on opposing QBs)

they'll have 10+ wins this year without question.

They've won a Super Bowl as recently as two years ago. We haven't.

Besides, they get Osi back.

I'd stop worrying about the Giants and worry about the Cowboys. If the Cowboys win a playoff game and the Super Bowl, the praise will come.

Until then, we'll still be hearing, "They haven't won a playoff game since the Clinton years."

Its just perception.

They won a SB.

Other than that they aren't better than us. They weren't last year when they folded up late, They produced next to nothing offensively without Plax.

But all the NFCE teams have questions. The Eagles rebuilt the OL and that seldom works out right away. OL generally take time to gel. And they have issues with Shawn Andrews still to address. They drafted guys with names we recognize but if you are depending on rookies to be more than role players you aren't expecting to win many games early on.

The Cowboys, Giants and Eagles all have similar talent. There is no clear cut favorite.

They're going to be tough, just as every team will be in our division. I think our chances are just as good as any other team in the division, we just have to put it all together in all phases for once.

They have seen their best days. That horse shoe falling out their arse is another factor.

Don't forget losing Spagnuolo. That can make a big difference. It's amazing how often a good coordinator leaves and the team keeps the same system, but the person game planning and calling the plays isn't as good.

Great point. I have a feeling they are going to be very vulnerable through the air this year, if we can just protect Tony.

We can help protect Tony with more hand offs to the trio.

I'll agree with most of what you said, but to say a team in New York is not Hollywood is absurd. Broadway, Hollywood, whatever. They have a lot of media attention because they're in NY and they have some attention ****** on that squad as well, Tuck and Jacobs come to mind.

they're in the center of the world (NYC). Media attention is inevitable not something they go looking for... their owners don't thrive on attention, nor does their GM nor bulk of their players. You see Eli in Mexico before they stomped us? Did they sign TO to an absurd contract? Pac Mac? Tank? See them on Hard Knocks?

Didn't think so.

The cowboys under jerry are a punchline of a bad joke. On the field and off.

Lot's of wishful thinking going on in this thread. The Giants are a far better football team going into this season than the team that lost a hard fought battle to the Eagles in the playoff's. Defensively we are much better. We are getting our best pass rusher back in Osi, you know the All-Pro DE we played the entire season without? We bolstered our already ridiculously deep defensive line with Canty and Bernard, added an athletic WLB in Boley who is able to rush the passer and drop back in coverage effectively, something we didn't have last year. We also added a beastly SLB named Clint Sintim in the 2nd round who has a penchant for wrecking QB's as he led the ACC in sacks, and figures to see plenty of playing time as a situational pass rusher/run defender.

And our secondary was already great, led by the most underrated CB in the NFL in Corey Webster. Yeah, we lost Spags, but we're still running the same attacking defense, and the personnel wasn't allowed to follow the guy to St. Louis.

Offensively we'll be fine, people have overblown that 1-3 record to end the regular season, if we had played anything more than our backups for the 2nd half against the Vikings we would have crushed them. We imposed our will offensively against the Commanders and Panthers. Dallas and Philadelphia gave us problems... but um, they both had pretty damn good defenses.

So I really believe we'll be okay with the guys we have, I love the Nicks pick, Smith, Boss and Hixon are solid. I also think Travis Beckum will develop well as a hash and redzone weapon. And Andre Brown, Ahmad Bradsawh and Danny Ware will be more than an adequate replacement for Ward who made a name for himself through our offensive line which is completely intact.

Don't kid yourselves people, the Giants are a deep and talented team that will contend for years to come.

Isnt it hillarious how the 2008 giants were exactly to a T the 2007 Dallas Cowboys....in every single way. Exactly the same.

Yet no one talks about it. they are the number 1 seed and lose a home playoff game to an nfc east opponent and its because the eagles are good. Dallas does the exact same thing and its because they are TERRIBLE, Horrible, suck, romo is overrated and sucks...etc...

having said that, I think the giants defense is better than Dallas, Philly and washington's defense hence making them the favorite. The eagles will have the best offense, the giants have the best punter, Dallas has the best place kicker and the Giants have the best head coach.

Now quarterbacks, I think Romo, mcnabb and manning are the same. If they are given time they are deadly, if they get hit like romo did against baltimore, manning did against Dallas or mcnabb did against baltimore than they all turn the ball over and struggle. So as always, the quarterback who will be the better qb will be the one with the better offensive line play and the better defense. Which is where mcnabb has always had the advantage, great defense.

Its going to be a fun year. the fact that two giants plays have already trashed Dallas is great. Mcnabb, jacobs, pierce I am sure are right around the corner. Being the underdog is a great feeling. The giants wont be able to fabricate that this year and mcnabb wont be able to whine like a child about not having weapons.

T it up, I am all set, lets start sunday.
