its such a big blow giants fans are planning a parade as we speak.

Go back to the link you posted. I don't see this massive celebration. Some are suggesting Mosley start and it is getting laughed off.

Is Baas going to be ready for the opener?

I'm a little unclear about what the Giants line looks like: Beatty-Snee-Baas(health)-Diehl(out, also health) and Pugh?

This. Their OL has never been particularly strong. What people don't like to give him credit for but is the absolute truth is that Eli is probably the absolute best pocket presence QB in the league. He almost always knows where pressure is coming from and side steps appropriately.

Yup, I'm the first one to call Eli tremendously overrated, but I do have to grant him that.

Pugh didn't do squat in camp so far. Got a concussion early and is just returning to practice. No one even knows at this stage if Pugh can play guard let alone tackle in this league. But, it is nice Pugh having to learn a new position in camp so early.

Baas will likely be listed as doubtful, and we won't know until game time if he is able to play. Snee is back, but not 100% and struggled big time last game. Pugh missed over a week of camp, so little has been seen of him

mods are busy

http://boards.giants.com/showthread.php?33004-David-Deihl-Out-6-weeks-with-thumb-surgery....

I like how one mod has to point out injuries are no time for celebration. others have talked about a person/people being banned.

The same kind of thing would happen here.

One thing I did notice was that a lot of people are not confident in Justin Pugh. The amount of abuse Dallas took for "reaching" on Frederick, yet the Giants got next to no criticism for doing the same for Pugh.

we might lock threads and ban posters, but do we delete entire threads rooting for a player to get injured because he sucks so bad yet the coach refuses to replace him?

The reaction on that board *does* look familiar.

To your other point, the Giants didn't even get Pugh in a trade down. I'm glad we dodged that bullet, because I didn't like that player at all.

Eli TO Shockey? Is this some kind of parallel CZ, with his counterpart of course being @Romo 2 Austin ?

Also, wow these Giants fans are confident in Pugh. Some suggesting he needs to play like an "All-Pro"? Fred is 5x the player Pugh is, at this point in his career, and nobody here is expecting him to play like that

That or how badly our fans overreact. I'm torn as to which I think it could be.

we went out and tried to talk not 1 but 2 OG out of retirement. Seems like fan overreactions to me too

you don't have to draft that many O linemen if you hit on a higher percentage then- what is it now with the Boys in the last 10 years?

Smith
Fred- hopefully
Free- depending on the year.

Out of how many picks on the O line?

The Giants have been able to use fewer picks because they have been better at picking.

Remind me to check at the end of the day and see which thread has more posts: our fan reactions to trying a new personnel combination to get Parnell into the lineup in an emergency situation, or the Giants fans' thread regarding losing their second OL starter in the same week. Then get back to me.

Meanwhile, again, we're talking about the same starter we had playing for us last season, only this time with more help than he got from Ryan Cook at C. We've gone all of the offseason with Bernadeau the expected starter at RG. Some may not like it, but nothing has changed with the plan other than the fact that we now have some validation that our draft pick was probably a very good one and Ron Leary's development is as we'd hoped it would be.

Not really sure what you are trying to say here, this team did try to sign 2 retired OGs this offseason yes or no? those fans and their overreacting huh? If you wanna stick your head in the sand and ignore every potential issue this team might have then more power to you, but don't try suggesting this is fans overreacting when the team tried to talk 2 OGs out of retirement and expect to be taken seriously.

it comes off as a dishonest way to explain what transpired. they tried to sign one. when that failed, they tried to sign another one.

at no point would they of tried to sign both.

neither player was retired. they were unsigned free agents. do you have to be so dishonest to make a point?

Pugh was terrible in the Senior Bowl at LT. He got dominated repeatedly by a guy that ended up being a 6th round pick. I was shocked that he was a 1st rounder.
