The early sunburst Les Pauls with the "tiger stripe" effect are probably the most beautiful electric guitars ever made, and the model (I think it was the 57) that is variously called the "Black Beauty" or the "Fretless Wonder" is probably the most playable electric I've ever held...

But of course, for rock & roll, you've just gotta have a Stratocaster, preferably blonde... if I hit the lottery for that 82 mil on Tuesday night, I'll go find me one of each... and a prewar Martin D-28 for my acoustic axe...

I figure it shouldn't cost me much more than about 300k... 250k of that will be for the sunburst Les Paul...

Always cool to see the famed "Flying V"... nice work...

I always enjoyed seeing Matthias Jabs rip the "V" up... although his best stuff was using an Explorer...

My first guitar was a 1964 Telecaster...nice way to start...

I had an old Gibson Melody Maker...then a walnut colored SG...then an EXPLORER...

And now, I've gone off the deep end with guitars...

So it was nice paying tribute...

And how is it that you know of guitars???

:)

I used to play... and I keep an eye on guys that do... I realize Rudy Shencker plays the "V" alot... it is not an easy axe to swing... Jabs could abuse it with abandon... but was better with the Explorer...

I always liked to see the Rickenbacker with Petty... I saw Steve Wariner once (Country Singer) just ABUSE a Les Paul... that guy can REALLY play...

I remember a few good guitarists that played Carvin... always wondered what they could do with a competent guitar...

My wish was to have Randy Rhoades still with us and see what he could do these days...

I have a Rickenbacker Fireglo...it's a horrible guitar to play....but it just has THAT sound...

After I sold the Telecaster (DUH FOR ME) I ended up with a Hagstrom!

Wariner has always been a guy that I forget about...but he's damn good.

Great pic of Rhoades... like hard rock or not... that guy could flat out PLAY... his bending of the fret in "Crazy Train" (still one of my favorite guitar solos)... would make Jeff Beck blush...

I still like SRV's work in Riviera Paradise... classy licks... and you should take a listen to Keb Mo... specifically a song called "Henry"... GOOD stuff...
