Yeah, I know. In post #21 of this thread I said that I was just joking with xwalker about it.

In case you don't know, xwalker is not a fan of Free at all and he really liked Parnell. I was just jerking his chain by saying Free made a good play when really it was Parnell. He has already posted that clip a few times in other threads.

X knows that I'm just picking because most everything else outside of Free/Parnell/RT we agree.

Whaaaaaaaat? We don't agree on Free/Parnell?????

That was a terrific run.

Edit: And it shows the flaw with the 'yards before contact' talk. Murray avoided a lot of contact and picked up most yards before contact, but that doesn't mean there was some huge hole to run through.

All he did was what your supposed to do on a zone play.

Defense over pursued and he cut it up field. Any RB that can read a defense should've been able to do that.

Haha.. yeah, if only the blocking was that great on every play. Being a good RB is a skill to be desired.

Not based on conversations here, it is pretty much plug and play. Nothing special about Murray so then no reason we should not expect greatness from one of these backs. It should not take 3 guys to fill the shoes on 1 avg RB. :)

Maybe it won't take 3 to replace 1, it remains to be seen. Personally, the who and how many replaces the 1 is not important to me. I just want positive results.

Nice run, but...
You don't think that was a huge hole?

I agree results matter I would just think with Murray being RB who has no vision and is nothing more than Avg should not take 3 guys to do it. Hell 1 guy should be able to

But is he average with no vision? I don't know. We'll get a better idea of that when we see how he does in Philly. I think our O-line is even better this year so if our RB's can't get the job done, then we know Murray was more than average. Will McClay is a smart man and I trust his RB plan.

and I hope someone takes over that role as a true lead RB and proves they can do the job. I just figure when 40% of your offense is gone it is pretty important to replace it. I have no doubt OL matters but as I have said before as great as the 90's OL was our running game suffered when Emmitt was out and that OL is still looked at as better then this one

As coach Garrett has stated... it's not a fair comparison... Emmitt's O-line to Murray's O-line last year. I know that's what we are trying to recreate now but Emmitt was obviously a skilled runner who benefitted from a good O-line, while now we are keying on skill at O-line and less at RB.

weather it is fair or not, fact is if our RB should have a field day, I expect Randle to maintain his 6.7 YPC you know that extra meat that was left on the bone. lol I agree Emmitt was a great RB who played behind a great OL that is pure fact that both OL and ES were excellent. This OL too is very good how good will the RB be? should not be an issue since anyone can do it.

All I am doing is removing any and all excuses. I expect Randle or McFadden to rip the league up

They should only have 25 players on the team, 11 offense, 11 defense and 3 ST. There is no need for backups.

You should submit this idea to the NFL. They could save a lot of money.

No doubt. We are in full agreement. If the running game falters, I blame the player carrying the rock, but don't we go further than that and blame the FO folks that decided to not bring Murray back? I would. Likewise, if the running game rips the league, we must give equal credit to those same FO folks.

I think someone needs to be able to come in an give the RB a breather. heck 250 carries for the season is 15 carries a game, I don't see that being a big deal since whom ever wins the job will be behind this OL. Evidently according to some it takes no skill what Murray did and he according to some he is no more than AVG so then why should I expect anything less from the RB we have? If they can't handle a bit of a load does this mean we then have less than avg RB?

Personally I hope someone does emerge since Cowboys winning games means more to me than banter on a message board.

I agree. I don't fault the organization for not paying out what philly did. what kills me is the fans who would belittle a RB who just put up 1,800 plus yards and lead the entire NFL as some avg RB.

Yeah, I thought that was crazy money philly gave Murray. As a man with a wife a kids, I certainly don't blame him for jumping to it.
