Because they lucked out. Just plain luck.

They will operate soley on defensive power this year and be mediocre to awful. Really.

don't even care to name my top 5 but you are out of your freaking mind to call the eagles in the top 5, If it wasn't against the rules I would bump this thread end of the season to prove a point.

Eagles finish out of the playoffs.

5 Best

(How did I choose these teams? Simple: which teams would I be most concerned with as opponents of the Cowboys)

1. Baltimore -- I don't really see an obvious weakness here. I think this team is built Ford tough.

2. New Orleans -- So their defense isn't that sharp. I suspect that's not going to matter much this season.

3. Philadelphia -- Impressive win last week, but I don't see them staying with the elite if McNabb is out for long.

4. New England -- They almost stumbled agains the Bills. Their defense is aging, but they still have enough talent on offense to beat most teams.

5. Dallas -- Good balance. I know their run defense is better than it showed against the Bucs. It will get better, and once it does, this will be a very dangerous team.

5 Worst

28. Denver -- Yeah, I know they won, but it's a facade. They were playing the Bengals for cripes sake. And they barely won on a fluke play. Seriously. I think this team is terrible and will prove it in short order.

29. Cincinnati -- Speaking of the Bengals...

30. Miami -- Uh...who is playing WR for the Dolphins? And neither Brown or Williams could manage over 45 yards rushing against Atlanta? What?

31. Detroit -- Sure, they lost to one of the best last week, but this is a team that hasn't won a game since Christmas of 2007 and has won only 1 of it's last 25 games.

32. St. Louis -- Wow. This team is just awful. I wonder if you can lay a bet in Vegas on back to back seasons with an 0-16 team?

Top 5 teams and bottom 5 teams in the NFL.

Yeah, I know it's only week 1. Who cares? Have fun with it.

1. Eagles (They beat a 12-4 team badly.)

2. Saints (Offensive firepower run amok.)

3. Vikings (I'm John Madden in disguise.)

4. Ravens (Supposedly a Defensive team.)

5. Cowboys (I know some of you will put them higher.)

28. Panthers (So glad we don't have Delhomme.)

29. Dolphins (I warned they were coming back to earth.)

30. Bengals (How do you lose to the Broncos?)

31. Texans (Breakout year? What breakout? Pimples?)

32. Rams (0 points says it all.)

OK Hos, please explain this to me.

You have the Eagles as your number 1. I may agree here. But your reasoning is they beat a 12-4 team.

Yet that same team you professed is the reason for having the eagles as numero uno is in your bottom five.

So which is it? Are they 12-4 and thus a yardstick for the Eagles?

Or are they really a bottom five with Delhomme and thus simply a team the Eagles should have slapped around?

You got some 'splainin' to do, Lucy.

Top

1. Green Bay (That defense is going to be really good)
2. Stealers (yes, I know, done on purpose)
3. Cowboys (The most balanced team in the top 3)
4. Ravens (The D and the QB are both very good)
5. Saints (If the D can be good to pretty good, this team does some damage)

Bottom
5. Houston (looked like a JV team last week)
4. Denver ( they won but no O what so ever)
3. Oakland (Most potential in the bottom 5 to move up)
2. Lions (Good off season but a long way to go)
1. Rams (No hope, none)

I know its just for fun list and all but Eagles 1? Really? I don't see them being all that good esp with McNab hurt right now. I know their D was impressive with the turn overs but I think that was more on Jake than anything they did. Out of his last 22 or 24 possessions he has 11 turn overs..that's just nuts. I will go on record right now and say the Eagles don't win more than 8 games this year.

That's pretty big talk especially after last December's debacle when we faced off against the Eagles. They were tough then and will be tough this year. And don't think McNabb won't be back soon.

Do whatever your little fingers want to. Don't put that little hissy fit to waste.:D

Way too much love for Philly and NO in this thread for my taste. Minnesota too now that I think about it. I wouldn't put any of those 3 in my top 5.

green bay, new england though they have the potential to slip if the defensive replacements don't step up, minnesotta, pittsburgh and baltimore

bottom five again in no order

detroit, kansas, denver, cincinatti and jacksonville

One week isnt enough to pass judgement, and because so many of the other "good" teams played at 1pm last week like Dallas did, I didnt get to see them play.

Of the games I did see all or most of (Tenn-Pitt, Dallas-TB, Wash-NYG, Chi-GB, Buff-NE and SD-Oak) to be honest nobody looked "great"

1. Pittsburgh - to be the man, you have to beat the man.

2. NY Giants

3. Atlanta - little concerned about their defensive depth, but looking good.

4. Indianapolis

5. Baltimore

28. Cleveland

29. Oakland

30. Kansas City

31. St. Louis

32. Detroit

1. Pittsburgh - until someone unseats them they're the standard.

2. Saints - Sick offense.. just sick.

3. Vikings - The drama queen is like a kid in a candy store. If AP & that Oline stays healthy they'll be a monster all year long.

4. Giants - Solid in all aspects. Same core that won the Super Bowl 2 years ago.

5. Ravens - With that offense finally coming around they're going to be solid. The defense is already ridiculous. Flacco > *(j/k...)

Dallas - Somewhere in the 6-10 range...

28. Kansas City - Lots of work to do. The task is monumental.

29. Houston - They're down here every year. Nothing has happened in the offseason to change that. Poor Andre Johnson...

30. Denver - Just the thought of giving up a franchise QB and then trying to make the fans of Denver think Kyle Orton = savior is enough to mount them squarely down low. Cutler definitely has his issues but you gave up a freaking franchise QB that hasn't even hit his prime yet.

31. Detroit - They still suck really hard but not as badly as the Rams sucked in week 1.

32. St. Louis - EWWWWWW

IMO, Dallas is a top 10 team, cause of their offense and special teams.....however, because their defense is so atrocious, the miss out on the top 5. since this is probably going to be a weekly thing, I would like to see Dallas hit the top 5 by the bye week.....but that all depends on their D, of course.

1) Ravens- this team, no longer under the radar, shows no signs of weakness
2) Steelers- the champs, like it or not, until dethroned
3) Eagles- Great balance on both sides of the ball
4) N'awlins- Who can stop them right now?
T5) Patriots/Vikings- Talent has dropped, especially on defense, but Brady is there... AP is a beast but does Favre have the stamina to survive all 16...

28) Texans- If not now- when? Shredded by "Dirty" Sanchez
29) Browns- a complete mess on offense- neither QB can play
30) Broncos- miracle victory does not deter from the fact that they stink
31) Bengals- how can this team be bad enough to lose to the Broncos?
32) Rams- a longggg way to go before they reach the "respectable" horizon

My current Cowboys rank: 9

1. Steelers- Big Ben always comes through in big-game situations. Their defense will hardly miss a beat without Polamalu for a couple weeks.

2. Patriots- Brady is rusty and will get better each week. Defensively they have to be concerned though.

3. Ravens- Baltimore has a passing game? Flacco looks like a Pro Bowl QB.

4. Eagles- Lots of question marks but they are solid.

5. Vikings- Dominating defense and they have the best RB in football.

28. Texans- Kubiak will be looking for work by November.

29. Bengals- Defense is improved but they are still the Bengals.

30. Browns- Why is Mangini still a head coach?

31. Lions- They improved from last year! I put them above St. Louis because of the potential of the quarterback.

32. Rams- Terrible football team.

No way the Saints make my top 5. Even with that offence. While there offense is unquestionable good, the 45 points was against Detriot and Detriot dropped 27 points against their defense!

I drop the Saints around 9-15 unless they prove they can do that against other teams. They can't win scoring 27 a game is bottom barrel teams are also scoring 27. What happens when they face the Eagles defense this week?

(note, I was questionable about the Eagles D, but it appears I may well have been wrong)

The Eagles even if without McFlab, should still be able to score at will on the Saints. I doubt the Saints win this game. If they can't win, they have no business in the top 5.
