Give Me Your Thoughts on Play Calling

At first I thought the NFL had outlawed running the ball I was like "Bill, you're asking for our gunslinger to throw an INT. Give him some time to settle down." But Bill knew his guy. He didn't need no stinking time to settle down. It worked out alright. But it had me worried the entire first half. I really enjoyed the aggressive play calling in the 2nd half.

I think when players are executing the play calling is more aggressive because you not constantly trying to overcome negative plays. 1st qrt was a bit sloppy with Dallas committing penalties but as we made fewer mistakes the play calling was allowed to be aggressive because we were in good down and distance situations

I thought the play calling was good for the first time all year (in several years actually). Romo gives us so many options that weren't available with Bledsoe because he can make his reads quicker, gets the ball out quicker, and can buy time for the receivers to get open with his mobility.

That means teams can't simply blitz to a spot and/or work at stuffing the run because Drew wasn't going to beat them with his arm.

We had a very balanced attack last night with 38 rushes and 36 pass attepmts. The combination of Jones and Barber gives us a very nice running game and as we saw yesterday, Romo seems to be able to get more players invoilved in the passing game and was able to convert 3rd and longs by throwing to receivers other than Glenn or Owens.

For the life of me I can't understand why we went with Bledsoe to start the season knowing his limitations. With Romo at the helm it opens up our offense to utilize ALL of its weapons instead of just a couple.

Remember when Cowboys fans were clamoring for Parcells to loosen the offense last year?

Well, the reason, IMO, he didn't is that he knew what would occur with Bledsoe manning such an offense. We successfully did it against the Eagles in the first game last year. But I don't think you can trust Bledsoe with such a game plan.

Romo is different and now I think we'll see a pass-to-set-up-the-run offense.

I'm expecting at least three more plus 30 point games by the Cowboys and maybe even another 40 plus game.

Well, they said before the game Parcell's was going to be in on the play calling.

You know, I doubt the play calling changed very much at all. Its very simple, instead of Neg Plays, the O was making Pos plays,, better execution at all levels.. more wr out in the pattern because they didn't have to max protect, and a QB that looked at option 2 and 3.. and got rid of the ball. The play calling didn't change.. same coach's, same philosphy, it amazing what ONE player can mean to an O.

Great comments guys. All the Drew apologists can say what they want. Another example of how he was holding us back (lol). For real though, it's good to see us get inside the red zone know we're gonna see something besides "fade right/fade left". My name is Sportsbabe and I'm a Romosexual.
