going to have to disagree on zach. he just had a concussion and was probably planning to leave half way through the season esp after parcells took over . if he can return to his 2006 form. or even a little less effective. he will instantly be our second best lb in a system that lives off of them.

How about give us some salary cap space. You just can't go after every free agent coming out of the starting gates when you have a modest amount of wiggle room.

When we had salary cap space we went after the big time free agents the last couple of years. You know that cap doesn't go up relative to what we previously spent.

Free agency is not over by a long shot and how about us signing Barber and Canty. We have a talented roster and are paying the price. Look at the paydays many of the good but not great players have snared with other teams.

When you are as close as we are to possibly winning a championship you can't just dial up your backups that readily to replace proven veterans particularly on the Oline. Part of me was wishing we should let Flo go and use McQuistan, Marten, etc.. but then logic struck.

We are in the twilight zone, a lot of talent on our team yet we still keep falling short.

I don't think we have the same good eye for aged talent that the Pats did last year.

I guess that would explain why the Patriots not only invited Thomas in for a visit, but offered him a contract before he left.

If those with "football knowledge" are the ones foarming in the mouth over a high-salaried, aged, injured, short, slow player, then, yeah, god help us. We deserve to be a 'wait till next year" team.

I don't think we have the same good eye for aged talent that the Pats did last year. They might be imploding personnel-wise now, but they were a well-oiled and efficient machine until the they met their Waterloo in an overachieving, hungry team.

Let's not get older. Let's stay younger and leaner and meaner playing and salary cap-wise.

A player that good as in Thomas was let go by the worst team in the NFL.
Not a very good recommendation by any means. He fit all the criteria for not hiring a player, yet his "Big name" intoxicated Jerra.

New England offered him a contract. So they must have thought he was worth a spot on the roster.

SO this post cries about getting older players one beincg ZTwho is a great player, and then calls Tatum Bell old? ***

But later in the same post claims we should dump some young players and laments the fact that we traded an old player

So we need to get young by dumping the young players, keeping old players and not signing anyone who is older than 26

Gimme you are a friggin genius

Dear BigDee:
You can untwist them now.

Reading comprehension is all-important, but maybe you attended Farmers Branch schools, so I forgive you.

*I called Bell a retread. In yourn circule retread might be synonomous with old, but I used the term retread.

*Young players who do not get a chance for whatever reason and who do not produce? Yes. It is called winnowing. Young or old, if you don't produce or have no chance to prove skills, that is a liability.

Big Dee, you are just friggin. :)

And git over it! Just because I suggested that your recent post on a Commander was slightly, um, unintriuging doesn't mean you have to go around in a pout like a junior high school girl. Get rid of that snit, snitter!!

Buck up, Bud, be a man. It's not difficult. Drink a beer, look at a football game, wear boots and stay away from them bars where you sip your Evian.
But again, let go of that pout, because no one likes a pouter, pouter!!!!!:)

Funny thing is ... despite Thomas seeing action in only 5 games last year because of the car accident, he still had nearly the same amount of tackles (52) as Ayodele did in 16 games (57). In 06', he had 165 tackles, 3 sacks, 9 passes defensed, and an Int. Making another pro bowl.

Thomas may be older ... but he's a big upgrade over Ayodele. Wade also has experience utilizing smaller LB's in his 3-4. Donnie Edwards excelled in Wade's D. It's Parcells that doesn't care for the smaller guys ... which is likely atleast one reason Thomas is gone.

As far as the Pats and having an eye for older vet talent ... they were the 1st to contact him and offer a contract.

From the amber waves of radio frequency Z12R126, Air Cowboys America in Farmers Branch where plunging property values don't matter cause we got cheap liquor and ample women.
Next up: Rudy's Prison Report followed by Nan's Poultry Corner.

First there was Zach the "hard worker," Zach the "leader by example."
Heck, all we want is performance without the throwaway lines like work ethic, dedication, etc.
These are things all players should have, so let's not swoon over Zach as if he discovered these attributes.

Now there is talk about Tatum Bell, another retread. Injured and had a nothing year in 2007. Great, let's play player roulette.:rolleyes:

Before we rescue any more castoffs from NFL clubs, let's take a deep breath and think about the liabilities of aging, injured players.
Youth is not a bad thing.
True, with the cap, you can't always take your time to develop young talent.

But let's save the rest of the gunpower for the real deals like Roy Williams.

Also, let's quit doing so much business with man boobs in Miami.
At times it seems that Parcells is not so much trying to build a team as he is trying to outwit an enthusiastic dealmaker like Jerra.
Let the rest of the NFL start supplying coaches and players to him.
A sixth-rounder for a veteran? Jerra should have spit on that.

Lastly, let's start taking a good look at the young'uns who were drafted recently: Martens, Carp, Miles, Stanback, Watkins, etc
USE THEM OR DUMP THEM
If you cannot make an impression in 2 years, clear roster spaces for young ones in the draft.

Clearly, no diamonds in the rough have been found on these, so maybe a wholesale infusion of young talent in the draft will yield one gem.

Fire at will.

;) :)

you always go nuts on rumors and talk? why not wait till something happens before diving off the cliff.

how many "bs" rumors have we had to sort through and now you're basing our entire FA period on MAYBEs?

I doubt you'll see him address this, as it is rather damning to his poorly conceived "argument", or bull****, as we prefer to call it sometimes.

Oh snap.

Dumbest reasoning since the Ice Age: Oooohhhh! The Pats wanted to hire him thus he is great!

Give me a break!

If you think the Pats are the end-all and be-all of talent evaluation, think again. They will be unloading losts of supposed stars. Why? Some got old, some lost skills and some just didn't live up to standards.

Geez, Punk, it's as if you resorted back to junior high. End your hero worship of the Pats and any aged player who is dumped by a very bad team. Or wanted by a used-to-be great team.

Jus saying your horse.

Excuse me for havin an opinion.

Last ah heard everyone in this Zone casts his or her opinion.

But getting back to the Pats.

If you think the Pats showing interest in a player is the mark of talent then there is some acreage I'd like to show you in East Dallas.
Yeah, give me a break.

Since when do you and Jerra take talent evaluation tips from the Patriots?
Get over your worship of the Pats and Coach Hoodie!!!
