The draft is typically going on right around now so I imagine that we all have a pretty good idea of the prospects. What I would ask is for people to just give the prospects that they give first round grades for the Cowboys. I plan on doing this for at least the first several rounds. I am hoping to get a feel for what the consensus is more or less on where guys will go.

Plus I love exercises like this. I am a nerd. Here is mine:

Clowney
Mack
Robinson
Watkins
Donald
Manziel
Barr
Lewan
Evans
Martin
Clinton-Dix
Ebron
Jernigan
Gilbert
Ealy
Pryor
Mosely

Noticeable exceptions: Dennard, Bortles, Bridgewater, Nix. From my view 16 is not a bad spot to be in.

I would be interested in your take on Barr. I watched cutups of him and came away more than unimpressed. I was flat out disappointed after all the hype. I hate to think I swung and missed that bad on him. What exactly makes him worthy??

Barr has only played defense for 2 years. He was a RB before. It's really a lot to learn as a 3-4 OLB in only 2 years; therefore, his skill level is underdeveloped.

With him it's about what he can do, not what he can't do. He has freakish speed/quickness but needs more developed skill and needs to get stronger.

On most prospects I recommend against watching highlights; however, with Barr I recommend watching the highlights to see what he can do without pouring through all of his games.

Gotta go watch a few games of his on youtube. I'm not as high on him as others. He might be a guy that slides to us at 16 though.

After watching the video I agree with what you're saying and with what I said at the same time... My analysis was still pretty much spot on but I can see how his speed is built into his game. He still is not big or strong enough to be a full time DE so I stand by what I said in that if we draft him as a DE then we are going to be very disappointed until he is able to put on weight and strength. As a rush linebacker tho he can be an immediate impact, I believe. I still think the 1st is too early for a developmental guy and I would much rather have someone ready to step in and play but if we do draft him in the 1st I won't throw the remote thru the t.v. :D

He would be a nickel pass rushing specialist as a rookie. He is getting drafted for his upside, not his contributions as a rookie. Other than Clowney, Barr is the closest to D-Ware type speed/quickness that you can get. You have to watch every other pass rusher to see how difficult it is to find players with his elite type of quickness.

I will admit, that it would be a much better risk/value to take Attaochu in the 2nd than Barr at 16; however, I think they would have to trade up in the 2nd to get him.

If these QBs slide our best formula would be to trade back into the lower 1st and pick up some 2nd day amo. If Bortles was there in the mid 20's and we sat there at 25 or so after the trade I would consider him as the pick.

Put him in right before Lewan. By the time I realized my omission, it was too late to edit the post.

I don't see Bortles as having differentiated himself from QB prospects from year to year. Manziel has intuition and playmaking that transcends scheme so I see him as a unique. If Bortles was there again after a trade down I would trade down again.

Well, I have been mentioning for 2 months that I see no 1st round QBs in this draft. Since having time to see them again after the season and now combine and Pro days I have Bortles, Manziel, Garappolo and Carr all near the top of he 2nd. I'm with you on the trade down because we don't really need a QB but its coming either next year or the year after.

I meant that Bortles ranks up with first round prospects from year to year. Size, arm strength, accuracy, etc. My thing is that QB is always such a projection because who knows if Bortles can handle the speed or complexity of the NFL. To me that means unless they have the need for a starter, the only way I draft one early is if they have some transcendent qualities.

Manziel only lacks height but he possesses intuition, awareness and courage that is rare even amongst the elite.
