Witten gets a free pass and key to the place but hasn't done squat in several years
JWit is the same JWit as always. First down machine. Sure hands. Very durable and dependable. Outstanding effort. Great locker room guy. Salary takes up less than 4% of the salary cap. I never understand the knock on him.

Exactly what isn't he doing now that he did 5 years ago? Please don't mention speed because he has NEVER been a speed guy.

Terrance Williams and James Hanna never earned their contract. Neither Did Swaim or Escobar. Witten hasn't earned his salary in 5 years. That's the problem with the front office. They love all these Te formations but got no talent at the position. JJ Watt could outscore our Whole overhyped te core if he played all those snaps. We ain't gonna win any playoff games as long as we got these scrubs. Poor Evaluations across the board on tes and fbs is what's holding us back. They all need to be cut. We have better receivers on the bench

He's never been part of a winning formula. He's not a red zone or a deep threat receiver or a big playmaker or scoring threat. Never has been a much of a receiving anything but a catch rate guy w a bunch of hype. I don't care if he catches every pass if it doesn't equate to scoring and winning it means nothing. He's just a mediocre blocker for 5 years. He used to be a way better blocker. The only time he ever does anything is against our own division rivals and that ain't much. When is he ever stepped up in a do-or-die situation at the playoff level pretty much never. He's just taking up all the snaps where we could have Red Zone specialist and deep route specialist. He's never had any business playing full time passing snaps because he doesn't have all the complete skillsets of the better receiving tes in football.

7 million a year for an ironman te that could only muster up 5 tds and 3-4 plays over 20 yards, under 10 ypc avg. No yacs. Very few gamewinning plays. He's out there on every third-and-long and red-zone play but he doesn't have the skills or stats to warrant those snaps. Why they would even accept such a one-dimensional player as the main snapcount and receiver on this team makes entirely no sense at all. He wouldn't even be a starter if he was cut tomorrow because he doesn't have any secret sauce as a receiver. We need about 8-10 TD's out of our tight ends every year but we play him every single snap and settle for 4-5. I guess if he caught 50 passes for 3 yards avgs and no TD's he'd still be glorified for his catch rate and blocking. His 35-40 rinky dink receiving yards per game doesn't warrant all those snaps. He's just holding back the rest of the skilled players. Plug even the worst tight end in the NFL into our offense w our oline and he'd have a hard time not surpassing these stats.

He had six games last year where he was limited to only one catch. And he averaged 35 ypg throughout the entire season playing most every snapcount. That's not main cog #'s. Pretty insignificant #'s for 4 year 29 million dollar extension imo. Take out his production against the Giants and the Commanders and he may have the weakest production per snapcount in the league.

He's never been a speed guy sure but he has still lost a step or two past that. Those seam routes that he used to complete on the regular are now few and far between.

What has been more troubling is has been his decline in short area quickness. In blocking it doesn't affect his run blocking that much unless they ask him to reach block but in pass protection he covers very little ground in his kick slide which makes him susceptible to dip/rip and club moves on outside rushes. In his routes he just doesn't burst out his breaks much at all anymore. He is still able to set up his routes and leverage his size but overall he just doesn't demand a double team.

If he was still demanding a double team there would be no way that teams could bracket Beasley like they did last year and still keep deep coverage. Wittens decline was a big reason why Beasley regressed so hard. Of course I expect the team to have him play every snap and stunt the growth of the other TEs.

Yeah Everybody just assumes he's still a good blocker and receiver but he's really not that relevant at either. Take out his production from the sorry teams like Washington and the Giants etc and he'd had ghost #'s last year. Most of his production came from when they played losing teams. He doesn't show up against playoff caliber teams much less when the season or game is on the line but let's just extend him for 4 years. They went out and got two receivers because they said they wanted more competition for that position but there's no competition for his position ever

The FO did pretty much what we expected them to do. Sign a bunch of ok to nondescript players.

Witten has not slowed down and is still a solid blocker What people do is take 1 missed block or 1 dropped pass and turn it into 20-30 bad plays The problem with Witten wears a number 4

Good for you then. When they start to do things to help this organization win more than regular season games, you'd be amazed how forgiving I can be.
They just did in FA but yet you still whine so your words mean nothing.

It's a good thing your words are like dog poo. They mean nothing to me. So this is the key to a Super Bowl, haha? I've heard that from dumb fans for 2 decades. I have a few things I'd like to sell you.

Im sure glad they didnt sign Treyvone boykin as an undrafted free agent. Seattle offered him more money than Dallas.

This guy is about to go to prison. How did the cowboys front office find yet another troubled guy as a fit for their team?

oh and the front office deserves no credit. They are just ok at their jobs.
