Key is still the man but it is good to see Crayton take his game to the next level. He has all but left Q Morgan in the dust.

We are wittnessing the birth of a star!

I think Keyshawn will play 1 more year after this and once he leaves Crayton will start. Drafting a Wr first round will def be a tough choice

Crayton is going to be good/great some day. Right now we need KJ, he will make the tough catch and play injured. I'm betting we will hear Bledsoe to Key alot this year. Well we will hear Bledsoe attempts to hit key any ways. :D

key is a great, tough, go over the middle, get you a first down type slot receiver. terry and patrick could be a field stretching combo from hell.

Bill has said, and it's true, that the concept of 1,2,3 receiver in today's NFL is passe.

Every team needs a minimum of three GOOD receivers. It is irrelevant who fans or media say is the lead, complementary, or 'slot' receiver..they all will get their share of touches. Again, that was proven out last season when after five games, Terry, Key, and AB all were clustered at 25-26 passes and all had within a few yards of each other.

Bill has mentioned wanting Patrick to spell Terry. That's a good idea. No defensive coordinator is going to game plan Crayton YET the way they do Glenn, but if PC plays the way he did last night, no one is going to ignore him either.

After all the weeping and wailing about not drafting a receivier, we are sitting pretty right now. First because we can see if that if EITHER Terry or Key get hurt, Patrick is going to be able to step in much more effectively than he was last year..he has made astonishing progress.

And second because we have three very different kinds of receiver. We know what Key and Terry are, but last night we got a better sense of what Patrick is going to be...and that is everything folks thought AB would be and more..I have seen both Cleveland's preseason games, and none of AB's receptions were remarkable.

Patrick has fantastic hands, and tho it is hard to fathom anyone has 'better' hands than Terry, Crayton just might have. Crayton is that hybrid between speed and possession, tougher than Terry and faster than Key, that might make him a dynamite all-around receiver.

These three players will all get their game time. There was mention in an article today by PC of how supportive TG and KJ have been of him. I hope we are going to be as mature about playing time as they are..AB and his whining selfishness is gone, and these guys function as "team".

We've got three good receivers with complementary skills and we need all their abilites to succeed.

Who is 1, 2, or 3 is less than moot.

This whole 1-2-3 thing that Bill wisely lacks patience with is passe. They will all get their touches, and they will all interchange in formations, and give us greater diversity.

How right you are, LaTuna. I had been hearing about PC's great hands, but didn't really get to see it until last night. He was impressive. What really impressed me most was when he fought for and caught the ball in traffic over the middle. I said to myself right then "myself, this kid is going to be excellent for us".

I thought of a bigger Steve Smith when I saw him last night..and there is a receiver whose game I REALLY love.

Agreed, and if he continues to play like Smith we really have something. I'm glad you mentioned "bigger". That size could (maybe) make him even better than Smith.

You nailed it as usual LTN. Crayton probably won't "start" unless we go with 3 wides. But it will ultimately be irrelevant since he will get his chances; especially if he is subbing for Glenn on a regular basis. I am very excited about our top three receivers for the first time in a long time.

I personally think Merrit will end up being our #4; he has been having some good moments and all that I hear from TC was pretty positive. I think we will start to see more of him getting in the game in a developmental situation like Copper and Crayton were last year. If he pans out we could be looking at our receivers of the future in this pair.

I have never been unrealistic about any player's abilities...and especially my 'favorite's".

Inch for inch, pound for pound, Terry's actual bare 5'10", possible 185 limit his game..we ALL know that. I think any player his size (and on the sidelines isn't it always stunning to see him alongside the big guys?) has incredible toughness just to walk out on that field.

His game has always been speed, quickness, precision route running, agility, hands, balance, intelligence; in other words, finesse.

But he isn't going to win many battles for the ball that can't be won with speed or elevation, and as Bill has said many a time, 'he gives it everything but blocking is not his thing.'

Merritt has been in the league 4 years now hasn't he? I'm not sure how much more development to expect. However I agree that he could end up being # 4. If Morgan keeps dropping passes or becomes a malcontent he is gone. The competition could heat up between Copper and Merritt.

Most definitely. Patrick Crayton is a budding star. I can see it allready in the way he competes for the ball and uses his body, especially on that one poorly thrown ball by Romo. Chalk that catch up to Crayton.

Patrick is ahead of schedule which means he is one of just a handful ready to become a household name in this league. Finally, a diamond in the rough. I guess all of those Hines Ward comparisons are not too far fetched afterall.

Crayton's time will come soon based on his rapid rate of progress but I don't think he will "start" this year in the 2-WR sets.

The thing that I am happy about is that he may become the first good WR we have developed since Michael Irvin and Alvin Harper (Bryant doesn't count). Haley should probably get some credit for his improvement.

Definitely. I've been waiting to see Haley really turn the corner with a developmental player, (something he never did in NY, and in Chicago I don't recall any latter round gems unearthed)..and this is it.

Of course, Crayton has some serious work ethic, and is a very gifted athlete, but the rate of progress has to be chalked up to good coaching as well.

I think we are sitting pretty at WR as well right now.

We also thought the same thing at ROT about a week ago. I'd like Merritt and another to step it up. Merritt is the burner and has experience. I want more depth. There are teams out there like Seattle who have so many WRs they don't know what to do with them.

The lack of depth is just another result of poor drafting and general management of the team until Parcells arrived.
