Glenn out Means more pressure coming

I would anticipate the Giants to bring the extra 1 or 2 pass rusher with more frequency despite the situation because of Glenn's injury. TG, a seasoned vet and arguably one of the best route runners in the league, means that his replacement - I love Crayton by the way - doesn't pose as big of a threat when the matchups on a blitzing defense ask for straight-up man-to-man.

This in turn could mean more opportunities to expose a weaker NYFG secondary if an extra safety or LB is coming.

The bottom line: the pressure to replace Glenn falls on Romo just as much as it does on Crayton and/or Hurd - maybe more. #9's ability to recognize hot routes and blitz reads might mean big plays. I believe he's up to the challenge.

I can't wait 'til Sunday. Go Cowboys!

good morning bro.

I am scared. nervous and anxious.

Am I right in believing that crayton will struggle with press coverage lining up outside? He is not fast and does not have that explosion. He always plays in the slot and gets off the line free.....

Witten will make alot of plays and Owens will too. I just worry about the giants laying a blueprint on us and really causing problems.

your concerns are valid...I have been following your posts from different threads...they are consistent with the way I think...it is all about how teams will defend us WITHOUT Glenn on the field...our game plan will be different...you can expect us to kick more FGs than I originally anticipated...this blows

Crayton been working mainly at learning the #3 slot position....

...why MOVE 2 players........ at this stage of season.........

Put Hurd out wide where he has been working all preseason............

Who gives a rip who "starts"...........i just want production, players put in a posiiton to succeed

Isnt that supposed to be Wade Forte'.............fits the scheme to the players not force the players to the scheme ala BP

There is no excuse, look at who New England has lined up at WR over the years, it's all about execution! Dallas has enough weopons to handle the NFC this year without Glenn... No more excuses.

We dont know that Crayton cant be that effective? Well we dont know yet.

Besides... all Crayton has to do is make some catches and the Giants will have to back off that plan.

We will burn them otherwise.

I want to see Stanback in the slot.

They are going to bring pressure any way. They are crazy not too with Glenn in the lineup.

I guess nobody saw what bringing pressure with a weak secondary can do for your defense last night. Jason David= Sam Madison = RW Mcquarters.

Get the picture? Send the pressure and make Crayton and TO look great. Sounds good to me.

We all including me tend to remember players for what they were last year and not what they are this year, Glenn may have never been what he was in his prime, this is not unlike Aaron Glenn, maybe its just time for new blood and Bp's boys to go on to different things. youth always wins out in the NFL, we will either have younger players grow up or we'll draft new ones next year to take their place, agree that NE manages to do this every year, maybe Wade is a better person to do this than BP. He never seemed to be able to adapt as the season went on, heck the Giants got dings as well as we do, and it's a home game, we should win this no excuses..

Crayton is strrong and has quick hands. These 2 assets usually play a bigger part than all out speed when dealing against "Press" coverage. Beside 80% of the time a corner is pressing - it's some time of zone or Man-Free help - only meant to re-route an outside receiver away from a hole in a zone.

I think the QB will play the biggest role.

I am listening to norm, he is taking phone calls. I think the general population is ********.

This guy just called and asked how many years glenn has been here, then said his glass knee has hurt us again....this is the first time he hurt it besides the one game he missed yet last year.

I cant stand stupid people.

oh and laufenberg said this morning that craytons assets are his strength and hands but he is not meant to line up outside.

Sunday cant get here fast enough.....Our luck going to games called by al michaels and john madden is not good. I hope that changes.

Mr Glenn is injured again, I'm wondering what the front guys are going to do or not do with Glenn next year. I love Glenn a ton, I really do, but I think last year was the 1st time in ages that he's completed a full year un-injured.

On to Crayton. Crayton and Hurd has just enough to give us 5 to 7 catches collectively between the 2 of them, and that should give TO/Witten the bulk of the catches, along with Fasano/JJ/MBlll and the rest of the staff chipping in a few, I won't worry too much - the show goes on.

If you have to lose an offensive starter, I think Glenn is the best case scenario.

huh come again?

you think we have a replacement for him?

I cant believe how little people think of glenn and how fast they are to bag on him.. pretty sad.

With Glenn out, TO gets doubled every play and our offense just turned to much more of a dink and dunk type offense IMO. I like Hurd and Crayton, but neither is going to strike fear in opponents of getting beat deep.

This is a big blow. Tony has got some work to do!

Who do you think on offense is more expendable?

OK - look at the last offense to feature TO, and compare ours.

TO played with a weak second WR (Pinkston) and 3rd WR (Greg Lewis, Freddie Mitchell, Billy McMullen - take your pick). I'd say that on par Crayton and Hurd are a slight bit better (or a push, even under the most pessimistic comparison).

The TE was LJ Smith. I'd posit that we are much stronger here with Witten.

The O-Line was very strong. By comparison, our O-Line should be pretty effective, but maybe we lose steam here.

The RB featured Westbrook. At first glance, our offense is weaker at this position, but not by much, if you consider the tandem of JJ & MBIII.

The QB is where we may be weakest in the comparison. Romo has not proven that he can be as effective as Donovan.

So, all told, I'd say we are quite comparable talent-wise (even without Glenn) to the last offense featuring TO (the one which went to a Super Bowl).

As with seemingly all things, just how much we thrive this season seems to rest upon the young quarterback's shoulders.

you know I was looking at the Saints offense last night and wondering too myself...how the h*ll did this team ever average 28 ppg. Where is there speed at WR? And that is what we saw from them last night...dink/dunk.
