Glimmer of Hope if we Dominate Raiders, Somehow

Nothing wrong with merely a "glimmer" of hope until the math says otherwise.

But for America's Team merely making the playoffs with a team with little chance of making it past the Wild Card round, is a bar to low for me to accept as the standard for a good year

2026
Yeah, it's a shame how much the bar has been lowered the last several years for this once storied franchise. The glory days are indeed over. Very sad.

Dallas should beat the Raiders, they and Geno are terrible. That is not a good football team but it will change nothing in the long run but an added win in the column. Just hope the defense looks better with the additions but Dallas is not making the playoffs, lose that pipe dream, concentrate on hope for next season.
Geno will have a career game against this dumpster fire defense , just like all the other QBs we have played.

So, this Raiders team. Not very good. But how many of you will have a glimmer of hope for this team if we stomp the Raiders?

We'll only be 4-5-1 then, and just one game back from .500.

With this defense, I think it's a close game. But I can see a scenario where the Cowboys blowout the Raiders and fans start rallying.

What if Bobby Belt was right?

Meh, of course, this is just the homer in me talking. But I'm also a realist and unless we have big changes on defense, I just can't see us getting her done for the playoffs this year even if we do beat da Raiders.
We shall see, We definitely should win. I'll not be looking for style points. Just workman like fashion.

“Glimmer of hope”?
Why so negative
We are SB bound even if we lose tonight

a glimmer is about it. percentage wise, there are way too many teams with better records who are going to fill the wild card spots, especially with our schedule after this.

our only real hope is that the eagles completely fall apart and we win out.

This game couldn’t have been timed better. Try out your new defense against one of the worst offenses in football. Next, work out any kinks you have and then it’s Philly and K.C.(and prayer).

Glimmer of Hope for what… Get to eight wins and have a mediocre draft position?

Not if you actually read it. I think the season is done no matter. Bobby Belt and Rockport are still hanging on and will drag out the glimmer of hope until we're mathematically out if it.

I wouldn't place any bets on it.
:thumbup:The Cowboys will do enough to keep things interesting. Then lose much needed draft position and miss out on the player they want.:banghead:

As I just said in another thread, the Raiders, Vikings, Chargers (suddenly), Commanders, and Giants games look winnable.

So now can the Cowboys upset one or more of the Eagles, Chiefs, and Lions and end up with 9 wins and sneak in as a wild card? Even a 9-7-1 finish probably won't be enough. I think the loss at home to the Cardinals pretty much doomed the season.

If we want to be realistic, there is no hope for this Cowboys team. Even if they beat the Raiders, and that is not a given, the next 3 games are against the Eagles, Chiefs and Lions. The Eagles defense is just dominating. The Chiefs and Lions will be desperate. 4-8-1 by the 2nd week in December. I am not even sure they can beat Minnesota and the Chargers. So they could be 4-10-1 before the wind up the season against the woeful Commanders and upstart Giants. I think both of those teams will be tanking so it's possible the Cowboys will win 1 or both of those games.

It’s math at this point.

We currently have around a 5% chance of making the playoffs.

Beating the raiders takes it to 8%

Our chances don’t get above 50% until we win the next four in a row.

Raiders
Eagles
Chiefs
Lions

Realistically through as soon as we lose two games it’s over. Even one loss and we need some help from other teams.
With the nfc it does seem like they gotta win out. Which is fair. They lost to jacoby briskett Bryce young and Caleb Williams

They probably lose 3 close ones.

Would be great to some Amari type effect with the Defensive additions...and then our offense get back on track. I think getting competent LB play is the key to this whole thing. Fingers crossed.

If our defense really does look much improved it's improbable but not impossible. A lot of these teams play each other down the stretch.

Eagles 8-2

Rams 8-2
Bucs, Panthers, Lions, Seahawks

Seahawks 7-3
Rams, Vikings, Colts, Panthers

49ers 7-4
Panthers, Colts, Bears

Bears 7-3
Steelers, Eagles, Packers, Packers, 49ers

Packers 6-3-1
Lions, Vikings, Bears, Broncos, Bears

Lions 6-4
Packers, Rams, Steelers, Vikings

Vikings 4-6
Packers, Seahawks, Lions

Buccaneers 6-4
Rams, Panthers, Panthers

Panthers 6-5
49ers, Rams, Bucs, Seahawks

We will be facing Philly without Lane Johnson.
Even so, we need our secondary to step up big time.

I don't believe Schotty is the best option as head coach for the Cowboys. I wanted Mike Vrabel as head coach. Even he was interested in coaching the Cowboys. Too bad Jerry never called him. Jerry stayed with who he can control and is comfortable: Schotty.

Now, we see what Vrabel has done with the Patriots in only one offseason and training camp. Turned the 2024 4 - 13 Patriots team (coached by Jerod Mayo) into a current 9 - 2 Patriots team with a 5th overall ranked Offense and an 8th overall ranked Defense.

Many here didn't want Mike Vrabel when mentioned early this past Spring after last season ended. I bet most everyone regrets that decision now.

Jerry clearly messed up BIG TIME, hence why we are where we are. Whoever gives him advice should have been fired a long time ago.
2 things , I dont think vrabel would have chose cowboys over the pats, where he played for years.
The other thing is he wouldnt be as effective here as we dont have a real gm or personnel guy , we have the jones boys.
He doesnt have an aging 60 mil a year qb, he has a young one on a rookie deal, and he probably had better overall talent there, and a bigger say in what they do building a team and drafting.

The jones boys are a albatross around the neck of any coach they would have hired.

Lions losing was actually better for our playoff chances. We have a chance, however small, of catching the Lions if they struggle. The division, and the Eagles, are pretty much out of reach at this point
I dont think so, phil is just one team, and for WC we are fighting with as many as 7- 9 teams.
