Not sure what to think about it as a movie. I liked it growing up. Optimus Prime was my fav, of course.

It's a Michael Bay movie, so I'm sure I'll like all the action and be so-so on the script itself.

So I saw it. It was pretty good.

Plot was kinda thin, but they put it all together. It was a mix of Bad Boys and Independance Day. Unreal life scenes. Odd humor placement. Lots of action. So much that in some places I forgot who was the autobot and who was the decepticon.

Tyrese played Will Smith. Kidding. :)

It really was a cool movie. Started off somewhat slow and they didn't go too deep into the Transformer storylines. It was more of an introduction to the Transformers. I could see a sequel being made.

How much "personality" did they give the actual Transformers?

My concern from the previews is that the robots are there solely as scenery (kinda like the dinos in Jurassic Park) and that the plot centers around the humans.

I thought they had alot of personality when they were finally introduced. Alot of comedic parts came from the Transformers. In one scene towards the end, during the climax, something happened that had everyone fall out laughing, because it was kinda unexpected.

Like I said it started off somewhat slow, but it all came together with some unlikely twists and turns.

My believability radar was filled with skepticism, but that's what movies are about, especially this one.

I'm wanting to go see it and I have these exact same concerns. From everything I saw it looked like the transformers were more like Hollywood monsters and not the focus of the show.

From what WG replied though I'm glad that isn't the case. I'm going to go see it as soon as I can.

They make a sequel for pretty much every movie nowdays no matter how bad it flops.

I saw it Thursday night at the Botcon screening. Tyrese and the blonde actress (I can't remember her name, she's new) from the movie were there. It was a pretty fun movie. It definately has it's flaws. I'd give the action a 10, the humor an 8, the plot a 6, and the editing/pacing a 4. It felt like they trimmed the movie too much, so it will be interesting to see if there is an extended edition.

The autobots get a nice amount of personality, especially optimus. The decepticons barely get any at all, and are absent for a good portion in the middle of the film.

The crowd I was in was obviously pretty lively and seemed to almost unanimously love the hell out of it.

As I'm writing this I think my wife is out hanging out with a lot of the people from her message boards (tfw2005.com) and also with the Hasbro guys, and possibly getting one of the characters she created put into a Megatron origin comic.
,
Thankfully it seems we made a pretty good profit from Botcon this year. Sold tons of exclusives (14 ebay auctions over $2500), sold a lot of mouse pads, and sold all of our custom shirts we made using the Decepticon police logo from the movie, even sold one of those to a lead designer at Hasbro. Their team when they saw the shirt wondered why their marketing department hadn't thought of it.

Leaving to go back home tomorrow morning. Hopefully it will be better than it was driving here, only stopping for gas and food. That took 24 hours.

why is that dude in movies? I know I'm going to be laughing my arse off when he yells at the Transformers, "bring it!!" yeah, like you're going to do something

but aside from that, I can't wait to see the movie, the action sequences look bad-arse

The "bring it" doesn't stand out nearly as much in the movie as it does in the trailers. In the movie it just slips in with other dialogue and things just keep going. The way the cut the trailers and tv spots make it seem like a bigger line than it is. His part isn't really that big. Really outside of Shia Lebouf and to some extent Megan Fox, all the human parts are pretty small.
