Good bet we go CB before DE

As I see the rankings shaking out, at 28 we are likely to choose a CB rather than a DE. Given the injuries to Jones and Moreau, and Jerry saying we're unlikely drafting a redshirt, the pool of day 1, blue chip starting CB's is not as deep as it was. Plus, I don't think any of the DEs available at 28 (Takk, Watt, Harris, Lawson) are Day 1 starters and round 2 DE's (Basham, Rivers, Bowser) have close to as much upside IMO. So, I think we take the safe CB (White, Humphrey, Conley, Awuzie) in round 1 and one of those DE's in round 2. Safeties are deep and we pick one in round 3.

I agree. I know it's not a popular conclusion but I see of the two big needs secondary being #1. We have more jags at the DE position then jags in the secondary. However I like Jabrill.

I feel the opposite.looking at the stuff Stephen jones has said and the visits we have had so far we are almost certain to take a DE at 28.If we trade down then we have more options but the DB options at 28 are very slim and we are looking at mostly 2nd and 3rd rd DBs so far.

As they bring in Takk, Watt, and Harris for visits.

I don't know how anyone could know if it is going to be pass rusher, or CB or safety at 28 when the team itself doesn't even know.

They're going to take the BPA at 28

Of course no one knows. Just reading the tea leaves and looking at supply and demand.

I think by the time the draft comes Basham could end up being the pick at #28. The guy is getting serious play from teams.

Yeah, wasn't really talking about your post in particular. I have no problem with someone saying "I think we go DE" or "I feel like the best value will be CB" etc.

I'm talking about what I've seen around in other threads where people make definitive statements like: "They're taking a DE at 28. We need a pass rush." Things like that is what I'm talking about. Just a pet peeve of mine where people state opinion as fact.

I understand why you felt like I was talking about you because I posted it in your thread. It was a general statement though and I actually kind of agree with your OP. I had just read a couple of other places where guys had said Dallas is doing this or that in the first or second... when they can't possibly know that.

The best depth at DB in any draft ever? Take DE @ 28.

It's still early but looking at the invites so far it looks like DE in the 1st and CB later. What is frustrating is none of these stud Safety's are being brought in.
