Good is good and bad is bad

Understatement.
Jaylon Smith wasn't just a 2nd round pick, he was pick #34. Gambling with a resource such as that is precisely why we are constantly in defense hell.
Gregory had all the warning signs any smart GM would heed. But we don't have a smart GM, we have a gambler.
And to take it a step further, trading up to take Mo Claiborne was just plain bone-headed.

I wouldn't have ever taken Jaylon were we did. Maybe in the 3rd. But not a chance in the second.

Gregory was an unnecessary risk.

Getting Mo was not bone headed. He was pretty much universally considered a top 5 pick and the best corner in the draft. He was a consensus stud. He didn't pan out but it wasn't a ridiculous move. The funny thing about this is there are a ton of the same people that poo poo the Claiborne pick that say we should have taken Ramsey, who was considered a CB/S tweener coming out.

If I wrote a list of all the WRs better than Dez I would get writers cramps.

If you don't think we are forcing the ball to Dez then I have to assume you aren't watching the games.

If we "target" Dez, it is because he is the best receiver we have by far. As I said, it doesn't make sense for Dak to throw to a guy that is covered all the time if he had wide open options elsewhere. QB;s don't love having to throw into tight windows all the time.

So our coaching staff is atrocious and cant gameplan for **** nor has the evaluation skills to get the best people on the field. Wow, that is a different angle

How come when people talk about our free agents no one talks about Lael Collins? Like it or not he was a FA. Why don't they talk about Cooper, who looks like he could be a steal the way he has been playing? Morris was a FA and has been cheap insurance for Elliott given his off the field issues.

Isn’t Dez like our ALL TIME TD leader or something?
His avg. is about a yard less than The Playmaker.

He’s been extremely good. Fallen off a little recently, but he’s still top 10 easy and carried us in the playoffs last year. When it’s playoff time you need a stud and that’s when his value will be appreciated by most.

People like you keep saying this stuff to excuse what the FO did

Show me a FO that trades up into the top 10 to take a player they have NEVER met and I will show you an incompetent FO

We never met with Mo
Wrap your head around that

"Extremely good" is not too 10
"Extremely good" should not be paid 15 million/year
Stop being a homer and think for yourself

Go look up Daks stats and our record when Dez was out last year

On the flip side, if we have a great coaching staff why can't they "utilize Dez properly".

That is the number 1 excuse I hear

So they're great in everything else except when it comes to utilizing Dez. There they just fail

Sort of like Dak
He is good throwing to every other receiver except Dez
There he is just bad

It is a mystery to be sure
But none of this can possibly be Dez's fault

Another thread to talk about Dez....what a surprise. This is an unhealthy obsession.

Agree about Claiborne. NEVER use a high pick on someone you have NOT interviewed.

Gregory to ME was the biggest bonehead move in years. the guy FAILED a drug test at the COMBINE. The ONE time EVERYONE KNOWS they will be tested.

Plus what could be the biggest coup of them all: David Irving. 3 sacks and a forced fumble already through only 2 games. Cheap contract to boot.

So isn’t my “homer” statement reflective of exactly how a “homer” would think?

How is that not thinking for myself?

Get someone else to think for you and help you with your responses you’re not making sense.:)

My bad for expecting you to have 'insight'

Now go look up what that means

I don't think anyone would have been mad about taking Mo at our original pick (14) that year; the issue is the trade that cost us a 2nd (would have been Bobby Wagner by the way). Jalen was available to us without any additional draft capital so the situations aren't really an accurate comparison.

For real! They didnt anticipate Mo being there so they didn't interview him? I mean come on man, thats ridiculous. Although in Mo's defense he got better as he got older and apearently is having a good season now. CBs go to Dallas to die, almost like QBs who go to Cleveland lol. Most of our dbs are better when they leave. As far as Gregory its wild to draft a guy that cant pass a drug test he knows he has to take. Our risks are always exciting unfortunately they are often disappointing. I still believe in Jaylon though. If hes healthy he will be a player. I dont think his talent was ever in question.

The list of players we almost got could fill a pro bowl roster.

So no one thinks some of the other WR’s benefit A LOT from having Dez on the field? As much as analytics plays a role in sports, there still is strategy and the human element involved as well.

Is Dez overpaid? Yes. But what’s the alternative, you don’t resign him, allocate the money to defense and now T Williams is your #1 WR and Butler is #2?

The offense isn’t our problem. Give me the WR that commands the attention Dez does, who will still get his, and has the ability to take ANY game over despite who’s covering him. Not saying he will, but he has the ability to, and come playoff time, you need that.
