Goodell has to go. TV ratings, sponsorship and general interest in football are way down. NFL owners should have a commissioner who can increase viewership of the league and the product not run it (nose dive) into the ground. Arthur Blank, Mara and Kraft are jealous, they're hacks. They hate the fact the Dallas Cowboys are still #1 in revenue after not winning anything in 20 years..makes them furious. They also seem to think the best thing for the league is to cater to a faction of media in NYC/ Boston and allow social protests during our National Anthem.

It's really not the time to give Roger Goodell an extension at all, he's not doing a good job. Threatening the Dallas Cowboys or Jerry Jones to "silence him" may backfire. The smartest thing to do if your the NFL is to get a fresh start and hire a new commissioner. The league needs it, football needs it.

The NFL is entering a low point, or may be there already, in a life cycle for a sport. There may be too many games on right now that simply stink. Too many average or bad teams. Not enough marquee players to carry the game.

And one of the best young players is suspended. He happens to play for the game’s most popular team that generates revenue and business for teams like the Bengals, Browns and Bucs and,,,,well, you get the point.

There are other issues thst hurt ratings and attendance like the protests, etc. But, Goodell’s fingerpirnts are on most of the problems and yes, he needs to go.

He seems destined to get another contract however, largely because the NFL practices a form of socialism and too many parasite owners like that steady but shrinking revenue stream it offers.

Your preaching to the choir. If it was up to the fans he would have been gone years ago. Unfortunately his fate ends with 32 rich billionaires most of whom are too thin skinned to see that Goodell is hurting their league. They'll find out but probably too late.

You mean 31 billionaires right?

If this is the low point then I am sure NFL owners are pretty relieved but I have a feeling it could get lower.

This has zero to do with “socialism” so I don’t know why you have to tie that into the discussion. No commissioner is going to walk in and change the revenue sharing system the league employs and Jerry isn’t even making himself an opponent of that. The commissioner is simply wildly overcompensated for the positive impact he has on the league and has way too much power. Couple that with the rocky relationship with the NFLPA, the mishandling of several hot topic issues and you can see why he needs to go.

If Goodell stays, we will certainly seen a lockout. If he goes, we probably will as well but that will depend on who the replacement is and how power hungry the league is.

I know Goodell is used to getting booed at the draft. Just wait until next spring. It will be epic.
"F you" should be the chant EVERY time he walks onto the stage.

You know, if Jerry could pull off getting Goodell out, he would be a hero with the fan base. The NFL is in a very dangerous place. They need to only look to NASCAR, NHL, MLB, NBA for falling sport dynasties. These have been at the top of their game and lost their fans for various reasons. Some have bounced back, other are still climbing back up the mountain. If the NFl's current slide continues and then they go into a lockout, they will be in very serious trouble. They are a damaged product with serious PR issues. PR drives ad revenue...you know the rest of the story. You can just watch as it unfolds and sense it falling apart. They need to get back to football, in my opinion.

The revenue sharing program is a form of economic socialism, it could be argued. Equal shares to every team? Yeah, that is not socialism at all.

Copy That! Brooksey1(was here) BUT the SALIENT point is that the 51% team GOODELL could thwart and beat into submission the 49% rebellious casing-liner's kicking against HIS grandiose gig, team GOODELL& CO. got going on!,,,personally, I'd find it rather humorous if Rodger Goodell was found dead at his flagship command post desk by an apparent death due to suicide of which two .32 cal. acp projectiles penetrated both temple areas of his brain pan,,, and the " Rodger" only owned a pair of .38 cal.revolvers ,,,:omg: boy, howdy! Have I drifted off kilter in my happy/ safe space wishful thinking OR WHAT?

This is disturbing and to be quite honest, conduct unbecoming of my casing-liner ,to be so brazenly wishfulo_O

Never said it isn’t. I said it’s not relevant to the discussion. Jerry doesn’t want to change that

Unlike the world of business—if a competing business fails, it’s not usually seen as a bad thing. If franchises in the NFL start to fail, it’s bad for everyone.

I think my point was that if trends continue, that pool of funds can shrink. JJ benefits from sharing revenue as well like you said, but he too will suffer if the pool shrinks.

Its revenue sharing among billionaires, not socialism. And to some degree its necessary: Rich teams need viable competition or the league becomes too top heavy and things start to suck the other way. We might have too much parity right now, but a league where the same two or three teams win it every year isn't fun either (for the fans of the other teams at least). Actually right now we kind of have a hybrid of the two--massive parity, except for New England. Everything sucks.

I've never agreed with a post more than this one. Goodell is bad for the league. It's clear that the Zeke situation is all about, "We screwed up the Ray Rice thing; now we need to overcompensate by really punishing someone hard." Problem is, there's no proof Zeke did what he's accused of. The league is losing popularity. It's Goodell's responsibility to handle that, and he's not. A radio show host who gets bad ratings gets fired. the league needs another Rozelle.

Instead of shouting profanity, which the networks HAVE to mute out, it would be more beneficial to shout "Clown" or "Corrupt" or something of that ilk, that might get through to to TV audience. Anything that might sway more minds against Goodell (and since it was reported Roger was furious at those Patriot Clown shirts, maybe being called a clown would also irk his ego).

Say thing enough times and loudly enough and people start to believe it. And in this case it will be true anyway.

Smart businessmen should see it coming, rather than waiting for it to happen. Goodell is disliked in ways never seen by Tagliabue and Rozelle. Given the trends working against the NFL - protests, youth football declining while soccer is growing, prices - the last thing they need is a players strike when the CBA is up. If Goodell stays in charge, it's almost guaranteed to happen.

Without a doubt, the next CBA is going to be ugly. The NFL has a huge problem here and Goodell whether his fault or not, his face is directly associated with it.

I'm putting that on my calendar to attend and getting my loud voice ready.

As should every Cowboy fan in the Metroplex.
I hope the reaction is something different than he has seen; no violence or ridiculous gestures... just this -- The booing simply doesn't stop. It drowns out the show and forces him to leave the stage so that picks can commence. I hope it is loud and does not abate until he is off the stage. I ope it is sufficiently loud and unyielding to force him to exit in humiliation.
