Got hopes for Butler?

To me it looked like Butler showed some sparks. No one should expect him to be Dez, but he did make some plays. He also had that boneheaded taunting penalty that could have cost the game. It looked like it was going to until Mo bailed him out with that pick. Hopefully Butler will learn from that and he can make some plays that help the team. Think he will or do you think he'll disappear against Cincy?

I think Butler ought to be good enough to beat the other team's CB3-4 for a big play every other week or so. And I really thought they'd throw him in to stretch the field opposite Dez a time or two just to see what opened up. Maybe somebody trips, or maybe he gets singled deep. Or maybe it opens up Beasley/Dunbar/Elliott underneath. But, not so much yet.

In place of Dez, I expect him to be able to make 3-5 catches a game but to otherwise be pretty unremarkable.

Yeah my eyeball test and his pass production says he might be an ok 2nd or 3rd receiver. Nothing dominating about his game. His true passion is dj-ing

Seems a little dumb if you ask me

He seems a bit wrapped up in the idea of being an NFL WR and that that might be getting in his way a bit. Even listening to him this week re: the taunting penalty you don't really get the idea that he gets it. He probably isn't going to.

It's a shame, though, because he's got some physical skills. Fast guy with decent hands who will fight for the ball. He's also not a good blocker, and I think that hurts his reps.

I'm talking overall season. Which means, you should expect about 40-50 yards or less a game. We really need Dez back.
I knew what you meant. I had hoped the emoticon would tip you off to the fact that I was just kidding. I suppose a "j/k" would have been better, but I felt at the time it would detract from the humor. Not that I've explained it, it is so not-funny now, it's almost upsetting...:(

Here's what I think: So long as Dak can beat team's using only short to intermediate routes, they will continue to do so. They want to grind team's to exhaustion and play mistake-free football. Going deep would contradict what they are trying to do. The crazy thing is for some reason people have used this strategy to suggest that Dak doesn't have a good arm and nothing could be further from the truth. They are playing it safe by design, but he can definitely go deep should the situation present itself.

Maybe. But they were hitting them in the preseason. It's not like he can't throw them.

The best thing for this bad defense is to be playing with a two score lead as much as possible. If we can get the big offensive plays deep, and we can protect Dak for them to develop, I want to see them. Then we sit back and take the easy stuff later.

Like I said, I know he has a deep ball. But I think they may be protecting him almost to a fault. But I suspect they'll open the offense as team's get more tape on what they are doing and start taking the short stuff away.

i dont know, hes good enough to be T Will, a lot better than we trotted out over the years, but i think we all want a no namer that shocks us like a Laurent Robinson. I like Butler more than what we used to have.

Where can one find a Terry Glenn now a days?

I think Butler thinks he is better than he has shown,I have yet to see anything from him to be considered even on Twill level.
