So you would take Bush if he "was the highest rated player on the board." By doing so, you are admitting that there is no such a rule that a player must be a "every down player" in order to warrant a first round grade. Instead, you are using the accurate rule that you take him if he is the "highest rated player."

I agree completely with that rule: you take the "highest rated player."

But now we come to the crux of the issue. You have decided that Jones is not as good as Bush. You have decided that Jones is not as good as Metcalf. And apparently you have decide that he is not as good as #28 other players in this year's draft. Or, in other words, as I referenced above, you have a preference for 28 other players. And I'm fine with that. That is your opinion.

But if the Cowboys have him rated as the 22nd best player (as Goose does), then there is nothing wrong with taking him at #22.

I submit that this "has to be a starter" thing is a made up rule to justify the real issue: a person has a preference for at least 28 other players. But at the end of the day, if the Cowboys believe he is the 22nd best talent--a determination which is not outside the realm of reasonable--then there is nothing to squawk at if they take him there.

I'm just objecting to the people who acting like there is no way it is reasonable to take Felix at #22 because he isn't a "every down player." That strikes me as bad faith.

No, I don't admit to anything because there is nothing to admit to. I have said that we should take the best player available, all along. I have also said that I don't believe that this is Jones. In fact, I believe that the only reason his in the 1st is because everybody expects us to take him. In truth, I would break my neck to try and trade out of that pick if Jones were the best available player and I had to take him. Why, because of the life span of RBs and what you have to pay a 1st round pick. It just does not make sense to take one early if they are not special. If I had no other choice, I would do it but I would try everything to escape that eventuality.

I mean, if he's the best player on our board, then so be it but I hope that we have the good sense to trade down or take the best player available when our picks come up.

Gotta have: Antoine Cason. Just think he's an overlooked corner (not by this board).

Don't want: Felix Jones. Unfortunately, I expect us to draft him. But something screams "Sherman Williams" about him. Has some ability but I agree with the people who think he's a career backup/situational guy. I'd prefer a guy with starting potential.

either you've never seen either of them play, or you are blind

Sherman Williams was never anywhere close to the back Jones was at Arkansas

I really don't think having 2 first round RB's (salary wise) has payed off for NO, so I wouldn't want to be in the same situation that's all, if you get a 1st round RB it's because next year MB3 is walking IMHO so I don't want a part timer.

wow really? didnt they get to the NFC Championship game when Bush was a rookie? didnt he have a big impact on them being able to do that?

people are ragging on Bush right now because his production was down last yr, but he tried to play hurt and was playing on a team that wasnt as good too...people act like he's sucked or something for 4 or 5yrs, when he's only been in the league 2 seasons

I think it probably had something to do with them being the best PASSING offense that year.

and you dont think Bush had something to do with that? I mean he only caught 88 balls as a rookie and 73 more last yr...and he combined with McCalister for over 1600 yds the yr before last...so its not like they didnt run it some

I guess we'd better hope that our 'McAllister' (Barber) never gets hurts either then, right?

which is why we should draft a starting rb not a compliment to barber. barber is the compliment to whoever we draft.

There's a button for that.

Use it if you'd like.

My feelings won't be hurt too badly.

Stash, I heard a comment a fellow made about another person. He said, "That guy is the most even tempered man I have ever met: he stays mad all the time."

It is difficult to interact with anyone who "stays mad" all the time. Some people might need anger management.
Anyway, I use to get upset when people would attack me personally rather than attack my opinion but then I realized that in doing so, I was only depreciating myself.

If a person persists in attacking the individual by name calling it is usually better to move on. I like to disagree agreeably.

The closest thing to gotta have for me is Roy Williams.

From the draft:
I'd really like Jordy Nelson in round 2 assuming we do not get RW above.

I'd really hate any LB in rounds 1 or 2.

Living in Argentina makes following the scouting and everything related to the draft really hard, so I have to make deductions or think bout what everyone of you say at forums or internet related articles so, here are my questions:

1) Most of you dont want Wr at first round, why? Do you think none of them are worth a first round pick? or you dont want a Wr thinking bout our needs and that we should look first at Rb or Cb?

2) I dont want Talib Aqib on our team, I didnt want pac man here neither, and having two of them at the same time is a risk Im not willing to take, what do you think bout this?

Yeah, but we're not talking about using a 1st round pick for their backup here, are we?

Precisely, if we draft a rb in the 1st one would hope he is starter quality otherwise it's a wasted pick.
