I would have given the trade an F plus only because the Cowboys kept Cooper from reaching free agency which could’ve had him end up with Washington or Philly.

Best part is Gallup won’t be ready till mid season at least plus who knows how he comes back and if he does he won’t be real 100% until 2023 season. Lamb, get ready to strap it on baby.

C for Cap space, which was critical. Depending on what they do with that space, could be a B.

I for Incomplete as those picks do not represent players yet and the WR corps is not set yet.

The compensation was not great but I guess it was not going to be when he was getting paid slightly above market value and everyone knew you had to either cut him or trade him (because otherwise you would have restructured the deal). Given that it was probably the best compensation you were going to get.

B ........every Tom, Dick, and Harry knew we were cutting him before March 20 but we got a 5th round pick.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports “at least five teams” have talked to the Cowboys about Amari Cooper.
This comes after reports a trade market is developing for Cooper. The Cowboys are still trying to figure out what to do with Cooper and haven’t ruled out keeping him on a restructure. With Davante Adams, Chris Godwin, and Mike Williams off the market, teams are realizing a free-agent deal with Cooper could cost the $20 million per year he’s making plus upfront and guaranteed money. That makes a trade possible before the new league year, with Dallas asking for a third or fourth-round pick. The Browns are ‘real players’ on Cooper, while Miami is expected to have interest if he's released.

Let the front office know what you think of the trade. Keep in mind the salary cleared off the books.

Browns - Amari Cooper, 6th round pick swap

Cowboys - 5th, 6th round pick swap (9 spots higher), 16 million in cap relief

For now, it's an absolute F because we could have restructured instead and don't have a viable replacement on the team.

If we re-sign Gallup, it moves up to a C because we at least took care of the replacement problem while saving some money and getting a little bit in return instead of just cutting Cooper. Can't grade it higher, though, even if we re-sign Gallup since Gallup is coming off knee surgery. The Joneses are taking a risk and as we've seen, risks don't often pay off for them.

they dont care and dont see this place.

i grade the post an F

alrady far to many whinefest posts goig on and FA and the draft offseason etc is just starting.

WE save 16mil against the cap..umm yes better than getting nothing..i always thought the narrative is the FO takes too long holds on too long before letting and player go..they are getting ahead of his contract that helps cap room. he maybe a very solid 1 but hes not elite nor been great of late had little drive and passion to be any more then hes always been and now going top his 3rd team. Lamb and Gallup along with whatever else they come up with add Schultz is back will be fine..im more concerned about reestablish the OL and run game it will actually make the pass game better ..less options Imo is better we can key one player per game and try and scheme him vs just saying oh well we have an embarrassment of riches at WR and still one and done in the payoffs. Far too many options like too large a menu that take forever choosing what top order, easier to target and scheme players , i mean its not leaving us without starers like in 18..lamb a first round pick and Gallups better then he was 3 years age. We will be fine stop whining and overreacting,.

AC has not been special and not helped us get over the hump.

Out of all the guys on the cut list, Cooper was the last one you wanted to let go. Overpaid? Yes. That said, he was one of the biggest drivers of the offense and when teams figured out to take him out instead of Zeke, the offense went in the toilet. Now the Jones family took him out permanently.

Should have just restructured his deal. This one is going to hurt badly next season.
