I give it a C. We basically forfeited the draft capital we had gained from the Micah trade and now DT is a logjam. Good chance Clark is let go in the offseason, which forfeits another piece from the Micah trade.

Considering the team has no picks in the 2nd or 3rd rounds in 2026 now, I fully expect a trade down with the GB first rounder. Hopefully they can get a top 5 pick in the 2nd and 3rd rounds with it. But if they do that, the ultimate outcome will be that we traded Micah for Williams and a 3rd rounder. I’m not sure I like that trade as much as having the draft capital we had before today.

Not sure which way to go, on one hand feels like we overpaid and burned our best 2027 first round pick for a good player but still isn’t changing our W-L record this year…after we traded for Clark and gave big $ to OSA…
On the other we got rid of Mazi and Jerry probably would’ve drafted busts with those picks anyway…

Of all the high end trades that cost good draft picks, this is the kind I can accept. An anchor piece for the DL that you don't mind paying,,, that's what you do with anchor pieces, you pay them, so why not pick one up in FA? Sure, you don't get the cheap rookie contract for a few years, but still worth it. We've been lost in the wilderness for freaking ever and need this player, not half a dozen more Mazis and Tacos..

Draft capital would imply we draft well. We shouldn’t trust their draft boards.

I gave it a B. He’s not quite the player he was 3 years ago for whatever reason, and you gave up a ton for him.

But he’s still a pro bowl caliber DT, and you’ve had real trouble filling that position for over a decade. You weren’t gonna find one in the draft or free agency based on your GM’s tendencies; this is what you had to do to get one. It was a solid trade

(This grade is contingent on you extending him. There’s no way you give that up for a 2 year rental)

the way to look at it is we got Clark, Williams and first for Mazi (see ya), 2nd and Parsons.

I think its a win win win, as I think the jets won too. now they have 4 first round picks and 3 2nd round picks in the next two years. they can rebuild fast, specially that their own picks is up high.

Don't know enough about the players, but we should trade with The Island of Misfit Players all of the time. Both the New York teams have players whom they don't get the best out of.

I’m so conflicted. On the one hand, I figured the second round pick rumor was a pipe dream. But I was hoping it was only going to cost a 1st rounder.

I hate the condition it’s the higher of the two picks. You can’t convince me the Jets would have walked away from this when they are rebuilding and kept Williams over the lower of the two first rounders when you are are also providing a second rounder.

It’s a solid trade - a premium upgrade at a position we haven’t had a premium player in quite some time. But it cost us a premium. And he’s 28. Here’s to his health.
