Grade the Quinnen Williams trade

For fans, 48 hours ago, everyone was in rebuild mode. Now, a big move, and suddenly everyone is back in win now mode.
LOL.....I think the rebuild mode was about the defense, and the win-now mode is 2/3 years per Dak's contract status.

Jets have been in the bottom 10 in most categories on defense this year, yes including rushing defense. In fact they are only giving up 7 yards rushing a game less than Dallas.

I find it funny funny people think a 1st, a 2nd, and a player for a soon to be 28 DT is a good trade. The more transformational player was let go and younger.

When the 1st round pick for Williams finally comes into play to be used, Williams will be 29, turning 30 during that nfl season.

I gave it a C- solely because he’s a good player at a position of need. I think it’s an overpay out of desperation. Clock is ticking for Jerry and Dak. Next year I expect them to go all in in the off-season.

I give it a b+. They get a stud player at a position that they have struggled to find players at since the 90s. It should give this team a shot in the arm before the raiders game.

Unfortunately, it would take some surprising wins and consistency to sneak into the playoffs.

If that 1st round pick ends up being around 30, the trade is an A+.

I give it a C only because I think they gave up too much for him. . He is a good player but a 2nd and first is too high a price. At the end of the day, I guess it will depend on how well he plays and where those picks wind up in each round.

Incomplete because trades are hard to grade instantly....HOWEVER, in my heart and soul, its hard not grading this out as an A+

so really what we got out of the Micah trade was Clark, Williams, and another first round selection coming in 2026. Big picture, that's one helluva haul for 1 player. Job well done in the F.O. including McClay. I know I aint suppose to credit that bunch but its the truth. It set us back temporarily, trading away Micah(at his own request) but down the road this is how you can rebuild a team quickly. These are nice cornerstones.

A solid B+ if not A- just because the Cowboys got rid of that bum Mazi Smith!

I went B+. He has been a great player. It fills a major need in that he can rush from the inside and we draft badly at that position. But I have some issues that scare me...what we gave up and how we went from draft and develop to use picks for paid guys; the question of how much of a difference was he making for the Jets if they were so bad and we handled him well in our game; is there a gameplan or is this just a move?

If his play did drop off a bit this season it could be explained by him apparently wanting to be traded on several occasions after Aaron Glenn decided to get rid of Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Reports suggested that Glenn dug him out one to one and criticised him as well which apparently didn't go down well (Glenn is having quite the impact for a 1-7 team!).

So perhaps don't judge his play too much from this season as he probably wanted out all season and was waiting for this moment.

If we would have got Minkah, this would have been a banner day!!
He can just go grab grab Simmons off the free agent leftover heap if that's what you want I believe they think they got a lot of safeties coming back off injury and they're just going to roll with that... I mean a lot of players are coming off IR and the ones that have not been active the last couple weeks because they've been injured they're all coming back there are a lot of secondary guys in that list...

I mean I understand that would have been nice but you guys are getting greedy they brought in a linebacker made a big trade for a nose tackle and now you're saying well I really wanted more come on this is a real business they're running with limited resources they already have a very limited draft coming up missing a lot of draft picks from all the trades they've made this year.no 2nd , 3rd,etc .

And a little extra cash that they use to sign a few people early it might not be much but it is a little every little bit counts remember

Of all the high end trades that cost good draft picks, this is the kind I can accept. An anchor piece for the DL that you don't mind paying,,, that's what you do with anchor pieces, you pay them, so why not pick one up in FA? Sure, you don't get the cheap rookie contract for a few years, but still worth it. We've been lost in the wilderness for freaking ever and need this player, not half a dozen more Mazis and Tacos..
Because you have bidders bidding the price up in free agency once they're free to pick where they want to go maybe they don't pick the Cowboys that's why you make a trade to guarantee he's on your team and he has a couple years left on his contract so you know you have him it's not a one year rental that's why..... There aren't usually a lot of nose tackles like him available in free agency but again if they were it'd be open bidding for all 32 teams Instead you use a draft pick that you would have used on a nose tackle with no guarantees in the draft and now you have one You actually have two but really Clark might be a better 3 tech he's been playing better than OSA but if you can find a way to restructure his deal and keep all three I think our defensive line is going to get better from here to the end of the year and we have something to look forward to next year..

It isn't a good trade. It's a great trade.

The Jets get the higher 1st in 2027 between the Cowboys and Packers so the only way it could be pick 30 is if the Cowboys face the Packers in the conference championship.

Can't believe Jerry made this trade with this team going nowhere this year. We gave up too much for an aging veteran who historically whose best sack year is three years ago when he had twelve. His other six years in the league he averaged about 6 per year. Certainly not an apt replacement for Parsons - Jerry's ego was bruised by Parsons and he thinks this is a way to keep the fans from committing mutiny. The two trades he made yesterday will do little to improve this defense this year or next. It will be a long time before we see this team in the playoffs let alone the Super Bowl...so sad!

Z-

Cant believe they gave up high draft picks to think this guy (although good) is going to salvage their season. They could have probably got him in the offseason. This team is going nowhere this season with the backfield and LB's it has,

He played his butt off while he was there.

It’s too bad that last year and this year he’s started to slow a bit but I actually think Eberflus’ defense, which requires the tackles to penetrate, will help him rebound a bit.
Don't forget, the dude was getting burned out playing for a losing organization that couldn't score any points. This could all change if this defense could get some serious help to add some winning juice to this team.
