From one losing culture to another losing culture. I'd say it's a lateral move for him.
Not if we can add some decent players to our defense. The offense might be okay if it doesn't have to score every time it comes into a game. If our defense can get a few more stops each game then the Boys might have a chance to turn this horrible season around.

Gave it a B. Love the player, hate the timing and the cost, but the cost is likely better than we would have gotten in the draft anyway so kind of negates it...so mostly the timing is just stupid.

D for this season and A+ for 2026 with a solid B overall. Yeah they paid a steep price, but DTs of this caliber aren't available for trade very often. I'm sure there was at least one other team bidding against the Cowboys. That's the problem with deadline trades. The cost is always higher than in the offseason due to competition.

I said it then and I’ll say it again they never ever shoulda resigned osa. Not only is he little but he sucks. Now we will eat that contract for 3 more years
Yup. I was one of the few against it.

He might have been the only player on the Jets I would have traded for. That being said, a good GM would have found a way to retain Parsons and pair him with Williams while EzE was being groomed in his rookie season.

I remember hearing Broaddus and a prominent GM once say that if you see your man, go get him and deal with the financial consequences later.

This move was long overdue. This position has held the Cowboys hostage for years. Finally, the Jones boys bought a player that will permit the organization to focus on other areas of need. The farting around with DT is over!
They just need to draft a 340 lb tub butt.

For '26:
I base my D grade on the poor return on investment of most recent/past 2nd round busts.

By that I mean is his talent level better than a 4 year cost controlled jag or below? I say yes, and it's only this that kept me from making it a lower grade.

For 27:
Combined with the fact that the 1st in '27 is likely to be a high first and that they just overpaid Osi at the exact same position, and I am practically teetering on the fence to vote this an overall failure.

There was no competition, when the Jets revealed the asking price. Jerry was the only bidder.

You have to actually take the test FRIST before getting a grade. SHowing up for class alone?

"I" for incomplete.

B

That is a good grade. I like the trade. There is a little bit of question mark around how good Williams is at getting to the QB. He has 1 sack and 3 QB hits this entire season. If you gave up those picks just to get a run stuffer, that's not a good trade. Hopefully that's just a blip and not an indication of his decline.

A- for me as I hate giving up that 2027 pick, love the player though
You have a LOT of faith Jerry makes the actual pick worthwhile. I do not share your enthusiasm.

The player? Has to prove he can play here.

It's ridiculous to grade things at this point.

Williams is one of the best defensive players in this league, he has proven it throughout his career and will show his worth here with better players around him.

As for the picks, Cowboys have a very strong track record with their #1 picks, day 2 not so much, but I am confident they can hit on both selections.

Better players around him? theres trash cans all around him. If we had Micah and added him I would be estatic. This trade will have zero impact in the win loss column. You don't trade a 1 and a 2 for zero impact. Every move this idiot makes is the wrong move and its been like that since 94.
