Coach Gundy takes a beat writer to to task about her hack journalism.

After reading the article he was likely reffering to I say "amen!". Nice to see a coach stick up for his players like that.

I love Mike Gundy, .. I had never seen him or heard him speak until 5 minutes ago when I saw his post-game PC on ESPN.com.

He was awesome, and he was shooting from the hip.

Football Writers Association of America president Mike Griffith issued a statement about the incident.
"I consider Coach Gundy's behavior completely inappropriate. It shows a lack of respect for the media and doesn't speak well for the university and the fans that he represents. Coach Gundy's actions have brought national attention and further scrutiny to the situation that could have been handled in a more private and appropriate matter."

Gundy stood up for his kids and I admire him for that!

But I am biased, because (1) I am a coach, a (2) I do not like nor respect the media at all.

The writer needs to respect the kid first. She deserved to get ripped.

I read the article. I guess I disagree with just about everyone else. The article was no different than any other article written about college athletes everyday. Someone go dig up the articles on Brady Quinn, or even the posts ON THIS FORUM before he was a 'professional athlete.'

Being criticised is a part of athletics. Deal with it. What an overreaction by the coach, but hey, great recruiting tool.

Why do Coach Gundy's comments say anything about the university or fans? That is a reach. He is an individual and maybe the university and fans don't agree with him. Maybe they do.

I agree with him. Write about the performance or about the bad off field trouble but not about the personel side.

One thing is for sure, it's going to help him recruite against OU.
