I'm trying to recall the sentiment around this team going into the year and as I can recall we were thought too be a meddling club finishing somewhere in the .500 range.
A quick Google search backed that up to a certain degree:

I'm sure there are sites that had us higher and lower but from what I looked at quickly and can recall we were supposed to struggle making the playoffs. And if we did it was because of a poor division. While the NFC east wasn't a super power it did produce two playoff teams and the cowboys are 12-5. Holding a winning record outside of that division.

With all that said, I don't have a great barometer on where we will finish the postseason. Most years when we make the playoffs I have a pretty good feeling about what our team's potential is. One and done, win a game and exit, etc. This year I don't think I would be surprised if we lost in the first round or if we won the super bowl but I think that just speaks to the Cowboys this entire season.

Long story short regardless of our postseason play I think we had a great season and have a ton of potential heading forward. Go Cowboys

12-5 is better than the recurring 8-8, “win and in” games at the end of a season. We were obviously a worse team last year, but who knows what would’ve happened (record wise) if Dak didn’t get injured?

At least the bad record led to us getting Parsons.

In season prediction thread earlier in the year I said 12-5. Can’t remember the last time I predicted it right

And exactly why should we be satisfied? JJ loves ya!
because the Regular season and playoffs are separate entities. goal one was shattered; 12-5 dominated the division to 6-0 , pro bowl payers, records, 172 net points second in the league, #1 offense stat wise etc etc etc

goal 2 up next.

we have right to be happy over a great regular season..now part 2 begins. get it yet? nope because you are ONE OF "THOSE" toxic negative fans.

A vast improvement in the defense and ST, Parsons, Diggs, Gregory, Kearse, etc. So many bright spots and so much that will probably get even better. Gotta strengthen up the OL in the off season and do our best to retain our key players, and we should be sitting pretty for a few years.

I didn't say they sucked. I predicted, I think it was 11-6, NFCE champs.

Then you aren't one of the posters I was referring to. I did predict 12 wins this season so...you know...kind of a prodigy .

The team recovered from a bad 2020:
QB rehabbed from a devastating injury to put in a performance worthy of the league's comeback player of the year award.
First-year - but veteran HC saw his choice of a DC was WRONG - and he corrected his mistake.
Second-year players improved + rookies came aboard to contribute.
Veterans put in credible performances.
