I honestly think after watching these videos, that after hearing Pac talk about how Deion was there for him this last year, that Deion probably told Pac to call out to head to Dallas, in which he did.

Look back on the TO situation, who do you think was the main reason why TO came hear?
Irvin of course.

We have a fine Alumni here in Dallas, its great to be a boys fan.

While I'm sure that was part of the reason they ended up here, dont forget that the MAIN reason is that very few if any teams wanted them.

There were 3 teams in the running for TO.
PacMan we were the only team from multiple reports.
Tank probably would have ended up somewhere this year, but I dont think anyone would have picked him up last year.

I do agree that Deion and Irvin were part of the situation, but I think its more the fact that Jerry realizes that when someones back is against the wall is going to be the most likely time to respond to what you're bring asked to do. Added to the fact that we have a very good staff in "mentoring" or whatever you want to call it with Calvin Hill.

Cowboys now have a reputation for a willingness to consider taking a risky player if they believe he can make a major contribution to the team's SB drive & if we believe our support staff can really help the player get his life ontrack. It's also known that the Cowboys have one of the best (and highest profile) support staffs in the NFL. Our successes with TO & apparently with Tank Johnson feed this image. The high profile by Deion & Irvin in helping such players want to come to Dallas is also a big PR bonaza for the Cowboys.

As for Pacman, all we can do is hope he really understands this is his last chance & our support system can help him overcome whatever drives him to make some very dumb choices. The Pacman developments will be watched very closely by all the other teams & football fans everywhere. If Pacman turns his off field life around & plays very well for us in 08, I expect many other teams to gin up their support staffs in an effort to keep any of their own players who run afoul of the law rather then watch the hemorging (sp?) of quality players to the Cowboys--a talent already with some good talent.

Also don't forget or signing of FAs Ken Hamlin & Leonard Davis prior to 07 season. While neither player had any off field issues, Davis was viewed as a bust by many Cards fans & Hamlin's head injury his previous year in Seattle left Seattle unwilling spend money to keep him. This is just another example of Cowboys willingness to take calculated risks to add 2 good players who went on to have pro bowl seasons. We also just signed Zack Thomas despite his healthy problems in 07 & his age to help our ILB position. Again another calculated risk but for a very good player whom the Pats & NO both offered contracts too; Broncos also wanted meet with him. And now comes Pacman.

Doubt the Cowboys will go add another player this year with off field problems (code for legal/character issues). Do wonder if there's a player out there we could be interested in if he becomes available through a trade or gets cut sometime this summer. We all know that many good players get cut or traded for a variety of reasons during TC. Will just have to watch and wait. Have no doubt that Jerry will do whatever he can to add a good WR if one suddenly becomes available & it doesn't have to be 1 of the 3 we've often heard discussed. Heck, I'll take a good vet WR with only 1-2 years left if we can get him for near minimum; particularly if he's a proven legit #2 WR with some speed & Terry Glenn is a no go particularly if no undrafted WR shows enough, etc. A younger & healthy Terry Glenn-type player or even a Keyshawn Johnson-type player would be OK with me.
