Green Bay is going to blitz and blitz often in this game. We had better be ready for it or this game will get ugly fast. There are a number of reasons to believe that they will do this.
1. It is our weakness on offense. We have very few blitz beater type plays in our arsenal (traditional screen passes) and struggle to run the ones we do have.
2. Bringing more men into the box will slow down our run game (See Detroit).
3. Tony Romo struggles to get the ball down the field in perfect conditions let along in the cold of Green Bay. The Packers are not going to be worried about getting beat deep in this game.
4. The last thing the Packers coaches want to see is our offense on the field for 7-8 minute touchdown drives. Aaron Rodgers' calf injury requires him to stay warm. They know having him on the sideline for extended period is detrimental to his health.
5. It is the scheme Dom Capers knows and runs so well. In fact I believe he was the coach who taught it to Jim Haslett.

I don't think the Packers fear playing in a shootout type game. In fact I'm sure they would welcome it with open arms. Blitzing the Cowboys offense early and often will either produce quick scores, three and outs or turnovers. There would seem to be little downside for them to employ this strategy and just might result in a blowout win for Green Bay. We had better be more prepared for it this Sunday than we were last week.

Good. This is what the Cowboys want them to do.

Dallas sorted out the blitz last week, and Detroit backed off. Same for Washington the week before. Parnell got crossed up a couple of times, but then they coached it up, and it became a non issue.

And the Green Bay defense isn't good enough to sell out on the blitz. They'll get torched.

We actually corrected the blitz problems more or less after that Sk*ns loss. The issue las week is that DET had a game plan that had them going against a lot of their own tendencies, and they did a really nice job with it. It's bad combination when they're blitzing and you've got routes on that require time to develop. But once we adjusted, we handled it ok, and that's against a killer DL.

No doubt you're right: we're going to get blitzed by Capers. But that works both ways, and we'll be able to get big plays off of it as well. They might not like 7-8 minute drives, but that's hopefully what they're going to get. I'm not sure there's much hope of beating these guys without getting into a shoot out, unless we're able to get some fumbles or change-of-possession plays in the kicking game. Their offense is just too good.

The Cowboys burned the Eagles blitzes in the final game. The Cowboys thought based on history that the Lions wouldn't blitz, but obviously the Lions saw the 1st Skins game and a few others where the Cowboys biggest weakness on offense was beating the blitz.

The Cowboys problem with the blitz in the 1st half of the Lions game was more about not having any short route options for Romo to beat the blitz than it was about the OLine. One OLineman can only block one pass rusher. It's the responsibility of the QB, receivers and play call to beat the blitz.

Our offense had a four quarter slump - last two at Wash and first two vs Detroit.

We ended last game with 3 straight scoring drives.

The O is back and it's ready to thaw the frozen tundra.

Beasley and Witten will eat them alive if they don't get to Romo. I'd love to see the coaches put in more plays to get Dunbar in space with mismatches on LB's. Demarco should be able to break off big runs vs that D but he may have his hands full picking up the blitz on Sunday.

If used properly you can't have a better combination to beat the blitz than we do:
1. Great run game
2. Great OL
3. Witten and his route running and comfort level with romo
4. Beas and his ability to get open
5. The physical prowess and pass catching of Dez

We should welcome the blitz

Basically every team has tried blitzing Dallas and in four games they have been successful. Dallas had played 17 games already. Just cause one team has had success doesnt mean another will. And beasley has come out and said dallas didnt prepare for the blitz against DET, as they didnt think det would because they usually dont.

Are you already calling for a loss everson? See you sunday in the chatroom lol

I'm just leery of the attitude "we have to do what got us here". This run on every first down in driving me nuts. The EASIEST down to throw on is 1st down. I am not saying throw on first down ALL THE TIME. I am just saying that at least you know Dez will have single coverage....and you can get Green Bay out of their rhythm. If ever there was a game to swing for the fences....this is it! Another thing....this would be the perfect game to mix in some no huddle. I also do not want us to let the play clock wind down to :00 every time...it will allow the opposition to time their jump. Dom Capers has seen it all...and he has seen us a lot. He is not going to get beat by us doing what we ALWAYS do. We can do what we do...just mix up WHEN we do it!

We'll have some more plays ready for this than we did against the Lions. Still though, I think the Packers could try to mix us up with blocking assignments, zone blitzes, etc. and we may need some time to adjust. I bet we'll see better execution in the second half compared to the first. That's really a credit to the IQ of the guys we have both players and coaches.

More specifically....blitz up the middle. This appears to be one of the adjustments they made against us last year in the 2nd half which helped their comback.
