Green Bay is going to blitz us to death

Given how multi-dimensional this offense is, I would hope that the team could manipulate and dictate to the average GB defense by way of formation, motion, and play-calling. When the ball is snapped they should be able to get the looks they expect and should be ready to counter-punch when GB blitzes. It's time for a little gamesmanship.

Both Dez & TWill are capable of taking short passes & turning them up field. Beasley & Witten can dissect teams in the middle of the field. I would like to seem them utilize more 3 step drops, etc...and less longer developing routes.

Green Bay isn't as talented overall on D as the Lions...and I think the middle of the field in particular, could yield good results for the Boys.

Of course the Packers will blitz Dallas.

GB blitzed 35%+ of the time against EVERYONE -- Dallas will be no different.

It's always been that way with Dom Capers.

They put their DBs in a ton of 1-1 situations constantly. They plan man just about all the time.

It's a great matchup --- The Packers have a real nice set of DBs in Shields, Williams, Micah Hyde, Casey Heyward, Ha Ha Clinton Dix, etc.

It's going to be up to Dallas to hit some big ones of them. I think Dez is going to be able to win more than his share of battles with Sam Shields and it very well could end up being the difference in this game.

They have given up more TD passes than Dallas has. Bring it on, blitz I will take Dez, Williams, Beasley and Witten any day of the week. When they back off we will shove Demarco Murray down the damn throats. Hell with GB tired of hearing people sing their praise, they are 12-4 no different than Dallas. Cowboys are going into kick butt not praise the packers!!!!

Green Bay is going to blitz and blitz often in this game. We had better be ready for it or this game will get ugly fast. There are a number of reasons to believe that they will do this.
1. It is our weakness on offense. We have very few blitz beater type plays in our arsenal (traditional screen passes) and struggle to run the ones we do have.
2. Bringing more men into the box will slow down our run game (See Detroit).
3. Tony Romo struggles to get the ball down the field in perfect conditions let along in the cold of Green Bay. The Packers are not going to be worried about getting beat deep in this game.
4. The last thing the Packers coaches want to see is our offense on the field for 7-8 minute touchdown drives. Aaron Rodgers' calf injury requires him to stay warm. They know having him on the sideline for extended period is detrimental to his health.
5. It is the scheme Dom Capers knows and runs so well. In fact I believe he was the coach who taught it to Jim Haslett.

I don't think the Packers fear playing in a shootout type game. In fact I'm sure they would welcome it with open arms. Blitzing the Cowboys offense early and often will either produce quick scores, three and outs or turnovers. There would seem to be little downside for them to employ this strategy and just might result in a blowout win for Green Bay. We had better be more prepared for it this Sunday than we were last week.

I sure hope they blitz us a lot. Just like Romo said in the press conference following the game last week, after they had figured out the Lions and if they kept doing what they were doing the Cowboys would make them pay. Bring on all the heat Packers.

I think you make a great point about it being to their advantage to get into a shoot out. Because we had to come from behind last week, the pace of the game in the 2nd half was to our advantage. This week (assuming we don't fall behind by 2 scores), we want a grind it out, ball control, time of possession game with Rodgers' calf freezing up on the sidelines. They would probably rather risk getting burned than dealing with long, time consuming drives.

I sure wish Romo trusted Escobar more, With his size giving Romo a Target into the void area vacated by the Blitzers.....would be huge. Seems a lot of time Romo is forced to take his eyes off downfield , and Escobar would give him a target standing out above most defenders. Beasley is great, but can easily disappear behind a wall of OLine and Blitzers..............Need Wittens size and Escobar in the middle....along with Dez one on one outside which Romo trusts to throw at.

Romo is very turnover advers, and throwing over the middle to someone he hopes is open but cant really see hasn't been something he is doing. Remember the Int. he threw against the Pack last year late in the game, where they let Matthews come free......I notice they haven't run that play this year, after throwing 2 Int. with it last year (Orton against Philly)

Yeah. They are going to send blitzes and Capers is going to disguise them well. That's what he has been doing for years in the league. They'll also bring 8 in the box and I think that they'll be confident enough to single up our receivers, including Dez, on the outside.

We just have to make them pay for all of that. They have the choice of the poison they want, we just have to give it to them. I think we'll be able to run the ball even when there are 8 men in the box and when they blitz we have a number of options down the field. We definitely need to keep the ball as long as we can but if we can hit them for big scores I guess we can all be happy with that lol.

Blitzes tend to lead to all-or-nothing scenarios. Great when they work. Bad news when they don't work.

be ready for the blitz early, hurt them early and they will back off.

This..The only way to back them off is to make them pay. If I were Green Bay I would stick with the blitz because if they don't, they won't win. It seems like teams have backed off too early against us and it cost them the game. Just my opinion.

I'm just leery of the attitude "we have to do what got us here". This run on every first down in driving me nuts. The EASIEST down to throw on is 1st down. I am not saying throw on first down ALL THE TIME. I am just saying that at least you know Dez will have single coverage....and you can get Green Bay out of their rhythm. If ever there was a game to swing for the fences....this is it! Another thing....this would be the perfect game to mix in some no huddle. I also do not want us to let the play clock wind down to :00 every time...it will allow the opposition to time their jump. Dom Capers has seen it all...and he has seen us a lot. He is not going to get beat by us doing what we ALWAYS do. We can do what we do...just mix up WHEN we do it!

I'm leary of going pass happy and having our defense out there all day. I love play action pass on first down, especially if we have Dez one on one, but we need to keep it balanced 50-50 pass to run. Last week we got unbalanced 65% pass 35% run and it almost cost us. The running game did get us here, no reason to be leary of that. Demarco should take the rock 25-30 times, Randle should see 5 touches.

It almost cost us because we got down early. We got down early because the offense was not doing anything. The offense was not doing anything because we were not running effectively on first down. We were not running effectively on first down because they were waiting for it and DARING us to pass it. We stubbornly stuck to what got us there...and against a team like Green Bay...it would have cost us the game. Again...I am not opposed to running...but you better have some new wrinkles for an experienced coordinator like Dom Capers. Else...you will see a repeat of last week with one slight differfence...this is not Matt Stafford...this is Aaron Rogers!

People were saying the exact same thing after the Commanders game...

Didn't derail us...

Get a grip...this offensive unit is the truth

I couln't agree more with what you said. Let's swing for the fences and at the same time punch them in the mouth.

Tony Romo struggles to get the ball down field?

That meme should be retired.

What I mean by that is he can't just get it deep with his arm anymore. That's why you often see him try to get out of the pocket first and then really step into his throw. He will rarely even try to launch it deep from the pocket especially if there are lineman around his feet.

If used properly you can't have a better combination to beat the blitz than we do:
1. Great run game
2. Great OL
3. Witten and his route running and comfort level with romo
4. Beas and his ability to get open
5. The physical prowess and pass catching of Dez

We should welcome the blitz

Play designs to beat the blitz hasn't been a strength since Garrett has been here.

It's gotten better over the last month though.

I still worry about teams that press us out wide though and load the box.

Let them do so, Beasly and TWill will say something about that.

And why wouldn't they? That's the formula the Skins and Lions used this year that worked to great success.

Even a HOF line can't stop 8 vs. 5.
