Because the NFL doesn't need a guilty finding in a criminal court to punish a player. And frankly, I don't have an issue with that. Hardy should have been punished.

Where I have a problem is that the NFL wants to randomly throw around punishments on a whim and not follow their own by laws, procedures, etc.

Nailed it.

I've been preaching this since Dallas signed him.

FTR - I don't care who the dude plays for......the suspension this season is as bogus as it gets.

Proves just how convoluted the penalty phase and the NFL process really is.

There is no method to the madness. Pulling crap out of a hat.

Then why won't Hardy's lawyer release the settlement document to the league?

I swear I read somewhere that the strategy the NFLPA and Hardy were taking is that they wanted the Brady results first as it would be an indicator of how successful they might be themselves.

Why should they? Weren't the charges dropped/dismissed?

Why won't the league release some form of consistency?

The point is, he served a suspension already. Time served.

Exactly......

If I remember correctly.....the NFL withheld pictures they got from the prosecutor...which IMO is BS. I would be fighting this appeal based on that alone.

Roger has paraded on for so long as some big shot lawyer filling in as the commish of the league. Fact is....pretty sure if Roger wasn't the commish he would be running some "Better call Saul" join somewhere....

16 other DV cases since 2006 with no conviction ended with NO suspension at all.

Precedence is huge with these federal appeals.

Rice and Peterson won on appeal because of the new policy vs old policy angle.

But does anyone know if the NFLPA even signed off on the new policy. It seems Judge Berman and Judge Doty would have a problem if the League just implemented a new policy without a vote from the players.

The new policy was not "collectively bargained"...Goodell and his band of merry men and women made it up on the fly in response to the Rice video being released.

That seems like a good reason to appeal for the next player hit with 6 games.
