Only in bizzaro worlds does beating Russell Wilson and Drew Brees not easily cancel out losing to McCoy.

The unknown is Demarcus Lawrence. if can come in and consisntly get pressure, the defense won't be so easy to pick on. The offense is fine. The defense needs to tackle and get pressure.

If anything, the fact that there are so many front runners who all play each other gives us more hope, not less.

To me, the unknown is still commitment to the run. With the best rushing offense in the league by far and the game on the line, the coaching staff reverted to its old ways. If that continues to happen, I can see us going .500 the rest of the way. You keep the defense off the field and you don't have to worry about it.

A little red meat...
Dallas won't make the playoffs

It's not quite as bold as you think because the NFC playoff picture is wildly crowded. Ten wins might not be enough to make the playoffs, and this is a rare season year where an eleven win team could be left out. I still see the Eagles as the best team in the NFC East and will take their chances of exposing the soft spots in the Cowboys' defense. If Philadelphia wins the NFC East, two of the following teams miss the tournament: Green Bay, Detroit, Seattle, San Francisco, Dallas, and Arizona. It's not that crazy to imagine the Cowboys being one of those two teams, especially with a top-heavy roster with very little pass rush. -- Gregg Rosenthal

everybody loves the eagles...and I think they are soft. they have lost and been pushed around by tough physical teams like AZ and SF. they have won a bunch of close games against so so opponents. and they only dominated the giants....

If Garrett gets them to 11-5 12-4 and they do not make the playoffs for some weird mathematical reason how can you put that on garrett. Most Seasons 10-5/11-5 gets you the play offs.

I don't think we are going to miss the playoffs at 12-4.

That means we lost the division to Philly, so they are at least 12-4 or better.
That also means that both wildcard teams are 12-4 or better.

If we miss the playoffs it will be because we tanked the second half of the season and limped to the finish line with a 9 or 10 win record.

We really need this Cards game. I think the Niners win the west so I want as many tiebreakers as we can get. Beat cards then Jags and you're 8-2. Sweep Giants, split with Eagles, beat the mess of the bears and get revenge on the Skins last week.

12-4 (lose colts game)

Course Eagles could sweep andCowboys lose to bears so 10-6 but I'll be optimistic.

Romo and key turnovers cost us the skins game. if Romo is on, blitz is picked up, I honestly think we'll do no worse than 11-5

I'm with you one that part in bold. I think this thing is going to come down to some tie-breakers, and if the Cowboys lose this next one, they could really regret it.

If the footprint is to hit Romo late and wreck his health, then i might agree with the op0inion they won't make the play-offs.

I'm usually one to keep my mouth shut about the officiating, but looking at the late hits with no flag indicates to me this is the strategy of stopping a team that was handing out a biznatch slap to the league.

Someone needs to alert whomever to stop this behavior. Or some payback is due. Times two.

If we miss the playoffs after starting 6-1, Garrett should not even bother getting on the plane in Washington. No way in hell Jerry could give him an extension after an epic collapse like that. In the 55 year history of the franchise, no team that started 6-1 or better failed to make the playoffs.

We are talking the biggest choke job in franchise history, you think Jerry can call a press conference and announce a new deal for Garrett after that?

After 8-8, 8-8 and 8-8 it would be almost impossible for JG to get fired if we go 10-6 or 11-5 or 12-4.

You think Jerry can call a press conference and announce he just fired JG after that?

We went from "best team in the NFL" to "not making the playoffs" pretty quick.....................LOL

We went from "worst team in the NFL" (Keyshawn) to "best team in the NFC" to "Disaster around the corner" in a matter of weeks. Welcome to the NFL. That stands for "Not for Long" BTW.

My view is that no matter what happens the remainder of this year, JJ and JG will strengthen the defense (as much as can be done in one offseason) which should put us in contending shape next year. Of course, Tony has to stay healthy.

Winning Sunday goes a long way, .. for many reasons, .. to getting what we want.

I agree. This game is way more meaningful that a lot of people are making it out to be. If we lose, it's not the end of the world, but the path to the playoffs becomes a lot more difficult. JMHO

In fairness to him, he actually said: "It's not that crazy to imagine the Cowboys being one of those two teams..." That's not the same thing as the article title suggests.

As others have said, we are not missing the playoffs at 11-5 or 12-4.

There has only been one team in NFL history to miss the playoffs at 11-5, so the notion that the Cowboys are going to miss the playoffs at 11-5 is just crazy. If we miss the playoffs it will be because we tanked the second half of the season and lost at least half of our games or more.

Trust me, we will make the playoffs at 11-5.

Same. one player is not gonna fix this defense. I would draft a DT or DE then Corner.. all of our picks towards the defense. Esp. if we keep Dez and Murray.
