It isn't up to the NFL to decide.

The Substances of Abuse program was collectively bargained with the NFLPA.

The policy is very clear.

Appeal hearings will be scheduled to take place the fourth Tuesday following issuance of the notice of discipline. If both parties agree, it may be rescheduled to another date.
what if nflpa says reschedule but nfl says no, what then?

does this have anything worth mentioning and maybe bearing on the case?
remember that suh had a hearing and the detriot lions said it was better for them if suh got to play and lions management played that up big and said for good of the team for suh to play, so goodell allowed suh to play?

can dallas cowboys pull the same thing to let gregory play and get on with his life? if goodell says no gregory is suspended but cowboys counter with gregory qualifying to play this year, meeting standards showing going straight, and that would be a double standard if goodell let suh play but gregory cant play,

FWIW, Brad Sham said, "It's completely asinine to punish a player for missing a test when he missed it because he was in a rehab facility. If the league is genuinely concerned with player welfare, they should give him a pass for the missed test." (paraphrased)

It's so goofy sounding that I wonder if this is really what happened.
From everything I have heard the NFL will chase a player all the way to India if needed to test him....wouldn't the league just go to the rehab facility to do the test? Maybe he was in rehab and he refused to be tested which then I can understand how it's a violation.......the whole thing is disgusting and not just because he is a Cowboy.

other than Lee, I don't think there are many other players on defense that has that big of an impact if they are not playing.

Mo, when he comes back, will be almost as intregal as Lee. Irving is emerging as an integral part of this run as well, and one could argue Brown and Collins also must be active.

But I get ya, brother, the added threat of RG's outside rush is so damn important. This is bs, to come down at this time. So it goes...

The record of the NFL is very clear when a Cowboy is involved with already designated punishment...it will be applied.

Does anyone know or had heard what Gregory's argument is? Defective testing procedures? Chain of custody issues? Test date was changed but he wasn't notified? He was just holding it for a friend?

Going to copy this post from another thread regarding the substance/testing rules and appeal

  • A medical advisor is responsible for scheduling all tests and ensuring the player is notified when testing is to take place. A player who fails to appear for required testing without a valid reason as determined by the medical advisor will be subject to discipline as set forth in Appendix E.

  • Appendix E: When a Player fails to appear for testing, the Parties, in consultation with the Medical Advisor, will determine the nature of the failure and the degree of the Player’s culpability. If the failure to appear is determined to have been a deliberate effort to evade or avoid testing, then the failure will be treated as a Section 1.5 violation, subject to appeal. For other cases, the failure will be treated as follows:
  • Unless a warning is issued, the first time a Player fails to appear for testing, he will be fined up to $25,000 under his NFL Player Contract and will be placed into the Intervention Program.
  • A second failure to appear for testing will result in a fine of two-seventeenths (2 /17) of the Paragraph 5 amount in his NFL Player Contract.
  • A third violation will result in a four (4) game suspension without pay.

The Mara and nfl out to get the Cowboys conspiracy is funny but gets old lol.

Its actually the Maras, Rooneys, Krafts, and the shareholders of the Green Bay Packers that have the ears of refs.

The rehab facility acts under HIPAA laws. Unless Gregory permits, the facility won't allow Cowboys officials in.

I'm not shocked nor surprised by this especially after that first sack. We joke about it but I'm pretty confident they'll suspend him. They want the Giants in the SB against the Patriots again.

You know this smells of Mara and that chick who is a Giants fan who holds a high position. They want one last Manning/Brady SB.

Right, because the Dallas Cowboys are so unpopular they'd never draw a crowd or drive ratings.

Don't you know they're scared to death of Randy Gregory, and nobody wants to see the Cowboys in a Super Bowl? ;)

Has nothing to do with Dallas ratings or crowds. You are trying to make me look foolish with your eye roll making a statement about something I never implied. We all know the pull Mara has and that chick who is a major Giants fan within the NFL front office. See how the Josh Brown Domestic Violence thing was handled. 1- game! The NFL knew there was a problem from a prior incident at the probowl. It's obvious he got a light punishment because he plays for the Giants.

The point was because of Mara they'd love nothing more than 1 last SB between those 2. It has nothing to do with rating at all.
