Patriots release WR Stokes

FOXBORO, Massachusetts (Ticker) - The New England Patriots released wide receiver J.J. Stokes Thursday.
Originally signed by the Patriots on November 18, 2003, Stokes was resigned as an unrestricted free agent on March 3. He appeared in two games for the Patriots last season, catching two passes for 38 yards.
Selected 10th overall in 1995 by San Francisco, Stokes has 342 receptions for 4,293 yards and 30 touchdowns in 111 career games
