The Dallas Cowboys host their annual Thanksgiving Day game tomorrow. This year’s matchup is also the first division series finale as the Washington Commanders travel to Dallas. Due to the short week, this will be an abbreviated edition of “Guess the Game Plan” that will provide a small preview of both teams’ offenses.

RUNNING GAME

As was mentioned in week 2’s article, the Commanders o-line coach, Bill Callahan, used to hold the same position for the Cowboys a couple of years ago. That means both teams will share a lot of the same runs. Watch for both outside zone and split zone runs from each team, along with dives (particularly for Dallas).

Read the rest here. Great informative breakdown

They'll probably follow Baltimore's game plan to attack the middle of the defense with a lot of crossing routes, etc. due to our somewhat depleted secondary.

Bring PAIN...and lots of it....smash mouth football on this one, as our OL provides it, and the DL finds a pass rush finally.....

We need to blitz often in the beginning. It worked well last season.

I hope we use a good dose of play action on first down when the box is loaded up to stop the run.

We better run the ball down their throats and play keep away. I don't like our chances in a shootout

Pinky: "Brain, what's the game plan this week?"

Brain: "its the same plan we have every week Pinky....we'll ram the ball straight down their throats!"

They're probably going to isolate Norman on Dez, probably shade coverage, and stack the box. They aren't very good at stopping the run but they're going to try. Run, run, and work on Beasley/Witten until they stop shading.

That 3*1 lineup for them looks like a nightmare with a healthy Reed. You cover him with a corner, Reed has a significant advantage, you bring Byron down, now you have 3 capable WR's in basically a bunch with Wilcox over the top.

At least our defense will have some practice against their run offense. Although, they same could be said for them. Except they don't have the horses up front we do, so familiarity will help us more. Trent Williams being out for them is huge.
