I know it's going to be a huge contract but Martin is well worth it.....one of thee best technical offensive linemen in the league, and I thank God every day that the scouts and coaches with the Cowboys overruled Jerry in the room and selected Martin over Johnny Manziel...

Don't get me wrong....love the player. But we are talking about breaking the bank for an offensive guard. I'm having my doubts they should go forward w/ this extension. Think the money could be better spent else where...

I say sign him now and pay out some of that bonus money now while we have the cap. I don't see us doing much else with our cap besides hitting the clearance racks again during roster cuts.

One of the very best offensive linemen in the NFL, and one doesn't know if he should be paid for that?

We don't want Martin to be low balled. We also don't want to adopt the stupid pay the man idea we had with Dez.

If we are going to pay Martin early (Martin deserves that security) the team is taking on the risk that Martin will suffer a career ending/limiting injury and not recoup its investment under the contract. That too must be factored into his upcoming contract.

Otherwise Martin can shoulder the risk and get paid at the end of his contract. He won't want to do that. It's in everyone's best interest to get the extension done at a reasonable contract for both the team and the player.

Jerry claims if there is an injury to Dak then Romo is the first one he calls. Keeping that cap room would be the way to get it done.

7yrs 12-13mil per yr

Zeitler deal is 5 yrs 60mil

With Dallas cap situation the next few yrs I think Dallas could give martin a good chunk in the first 3 yrs.

And Tyron and Frederick will have the highest cap hits from their deals next yr too.

Tyron at 17.5 mil after that it goes down to 15mil in 2019 and stays ay a friendly 13mil for the rest of his deal.

Frederick at 13mil next yr and after stays between 8.4-10.2 mil for the rest of his contract.

All these couch GMs can bad mouth this front office all they want but they know what their down and doing it right.

so you'd rather have your quarterback getting creamed, like Romo...broken collarbone numerous times, back surgeries or a third tier running game......games and championships are won in the trenches, that's where you put your money..

Great movie.

'Hanging around, hanging around. Kid's got alligator blood. Can't get rid of him.'

Yeah, Malkovich was great as that Russian character... Teddy KGB.
"Check, check, check."
I could watch that card playing scene over a few times.
Damn, now I'm craving Oreo's... lol
